October has been an absolute nightmare for software
> Railway - customer secrets exposure
> LiteLLM - malicious PyPI + Docker releases
> Zeabur - infrastructure breached
> OpenCode - AI API keys exposed
> OVHcloud CLI - official binaries backdoored
> Rank Math PRO - malware in official plugin
> TeamUpdraft - customer data compromised
> ConnectWise - cloud backup identities compromised
> Tensorlake - npm package infected
> SubQuery - backdoored npm package
> GhostAction - GitHub repos with malicious workflows
> PHP - critical RCE vulnerabilities
> Node.js - security vulnerabilities patched
> eMudhra - certificate authority keys compromised
> Tailscale - eMudhra incident
At this point, the biggest security risk might not be the code we write, but the code we trust...

So you're saying - buy stock in funeral homes.

One of the biggest surprises to me about adulting is seeing how bad people have to be at jobs before they get fired
I HATE PRIVATE EQUITY.
I HATE IT WITH SO MUCH PASSION.
Not investing. Not markets. Not business in general.
I hate this one specific move: a firm buys a company using borrowed money, loads that debt onto the company's own books instead of the firm's, pays itself management fees straight out of whatever profit is left, and walks away clean no matter what happens to the business.
Sears was a dominant, functioning retailer when Eddie Lampert's hedge fund took it over. Over the next 13 years, it got loaded with billions in debt, its real estate and brands got sold off piece by piece to pay Lampert and his fund, and the company filed for bankruptcy in 2018 with over $11 billion in liabilities.
More than 200,000 jobs disappeared over that stretch.
Lampert personally walked away with an estimated $1.4 billion.
He didn't lose. He was never going to lose. The debt was never his.
Nobody's saying capitalism itself is the problem.
I'm saying there's a version of it where you can gut a company for parts, call it "restructuring," collect the fees either way, and the law treats it as a legitimate business strategy every single time.

Chainlink’s scam has started to unravel. They poured a ton of money into bribing and sponsoring DTCC projects, yet $ZRO didn’t spend a single cent to get DTCC to use them. I feel sorry for the $LINK fanatics
DTCC, which holds $114 trillion in active issues, is exploring LayerZero's Zero chain for tokenized securities and collateral management. Citadel Securities bought ZRO directly, and NYSE owner ICE is examining Zero.

I'd never heard of the Chinese car brand that just drove us back to the hotel in Shenzhen, but the interior was as nice or nicer than a top-spec Mercedes S class and the 20-minute drive was $6. Germany should be very worried indeed.
