Wonderful to have the Civil War cavalry reenactors on site today at Chester Castle - the horses really bring the castle alive! The event is running again tomorrow 10am-3pm should anyone like to say hello to the horses or the soldiers 🐴⚔️

Back with another palaeography request! I need help deciphering the surname of the owner of this book. I can see the first name is Thomas and that he signed the book in “anno domini 1565”.

Had the most amazing day @britishlibrary looking at the 1561 and 1565 edition of Thomas Becon’s The Sycke Man’s Salve. Wonderful to see it in person after so long studying it, but even more wonderful to see the original owner of the 1565 edition annotating passages about emotions

The BL had so many wonderful texts on display as part of the Treasures exhibition. Some favourites were Shakespeare’s first folio, Geoffrey Chaucer’s Canterbury Tales and William Tyndale’s New Testament.
