I think MMR would legit collapse again if exhaustion and pallet density was reverted. Most survivors I encounter get trounced because all they can do is slam gens with cheese, predrop pallets, and hold W. If it isnt that, its just second chance central.
I really don't think DBD can go back to respecting the depth it once had.

i’m been playing more survivor & just doing silly builds on killer because facing this build while playing trickster & wanting to sweat/win? 0/10 bad time

There is a lot to unpack when it comes the issues the game is suffering from when it comes to meta. Meta really breaks down into the killer, what perks are being used, what map you are on, and so on. However, the sum of its parts doesn't tell the whole story in a match's outcome.
It boils down to:
Perks.
Pallet density.
Killers.
Maps.
The game is greatly suffering from non-interactive forms of play, perks, and playstyles. Perks and pallet density really play into this.
Perks - many perks have too much weight and impact on a match outcome. To a point of utter absurdity and being unreasonable. The stacking of perk effects on the survivor side can demonstrate this with hyperfocus, stacking exhaustion perks, decisive strikes, and many others create problems for all killers especially lower tier killers.
Pallet density / tile generation - the game has evolved from being mindful and skillful with resources to quite the opposite for the worse. Resources are wasted at the expense of the team and hold W to the next resource. Repeat. The problem is. It works to waste time in the time management game that dbd is. Its non interactive and reductive of the games established loop.
Killers - lots here. Ill just day this. Update update update. Many killers are in dire need of reworks, add-on passes, and attention for the modern games. As the modern game has left them behind.
Maps- many Maps need to be reduced in size and balanced for 110 killers in mind. Sure, not every map can accommodate m2s, ranged, and mobility killers young and old. So Maps play a large role in a killers effectiveness drastically (which doesn't feel great).
There is quite a bit to unpack and discuss. I have videos on my channel and plenty of lovely people here have given great feedback. Thank you.
I am glad dinosaur centered horror media is making a huge comeback over the last few years. This is obviously a comfort genre for me.
