"The task of the modern educator is not to cut down jungles but to irrigate deserts. The right defence against false sentiments is to inculcate just sentiments. By starving the sensibility of our pupils we only make them easier prey to the propagandist when he comes." C. S. Lewis

That Elizabeth Holmes documentary is whack, y’all. Left the theater with lots to think about. Troubling but fascinating.

Socialists say capitalism hurt the poor. But it doesn’t! For thousands of years, everyone was poor. Only when countries tried capitalism, did wealth grow. "A higher standard of living comes from trading with one another," says @SteveForbesCEO of @Forbes. Here's why:

To my fellow Texas friends: The moment you realize that the Bush family is voting for James Talarico is the moment you realize you MUST vote for Ken Paxton.

Good morning to everyone except for whoever is responsible for this creature crawling back out of her hole and inflicting us with the sound of her voice again
Kamala tried out a motivational quote in Mississippi: "Never let someone else's limited ability to see your capacity be a limitation on your ambition." The reaction was so muted she had to try it again. "Let me repeat that..." She actually thinks this stuff is brilliant and is amazed when no one else does.

It’s been years since I last ate it but I just had two of their tenders. Yall, Cane’s chicken is a cardboardy flavorless experience. It’s the manila folder of chicken tenders. Here I stand.

🚨LOVE IT: A young woman just ditched her plans for law school to fix ski lifts, and she's winning. Victoria Madison was in college studying to become a lawyer when a full-time mechanic job opened up with a 401(k), health insurance and paid time off. She did the math: "I would have 3 to 5 years left of school and probably tens of thousands of dollars of debt." So she pulled the plug, and she says she loves her job. Per Fox, elevator installers make almost $110,000 while graphic designers make about $63,000. College isn't the only road to the American dream. Hard work and a good attitude still get you there.

This is exactly what Thomas Sowell called out in his excavation of inter-cultural violence against middlemen minorities. It’s happened against Chinese, Indians, Jews. Any third culture that comes in and discovers a way to be profitable draws hatred. hoover.org/research/anti-sem…

So many of you have tagged me on this lovely video this week. It’s a powerful reminder that young children are born problem solvers. What a little genius. But what I really want to call attention to are the adults in this video: Mom (who’s shopping in the background) and Dad (who appears to be the one behind the camera). It’s their patience and confidence that enabled all the great things we see here. Were they to have intervened prematurely, our hero wouldn’t have had the opportunity to work this problem out the way she ultimately did. As the caption notes sometimes the hardest part of being a parent is resisting the urge to step in and remove any source of friction for your child. That doesn’t mean you never intervene… but this is a textbook case of when not to. Here, their daughter is actively and patiently working on a solution. Her expression isn’t one of frustration… it’s one of determination. And the answer is right there in front of her… getting closer with each failed attempt. So here’s a good rule of thumb: sit back when appropriate. Intervene immediately if your child is in danger, of course. Intervene before long if the task at hand is simply beyond your toddler’s current ability… but know that the magic happens right on the edge of what’s possible. So in instances like this, allow your child the latitude to work things out. You might be surprised at the amazing results. Lastly, but importantly, not one of the posts I’ve been tagged on has credited the actual creator of this video - Deddeh Howard on Instagram. This often happens when things go viral, but I work hard to ensure proper attribution of the content I share here. The child development commentaries are mine, but the video content is always theirs. Thanks to Deddeh for this wonderful video and kudos on this A+ parenting.

🤣😂😆 It has to be exhausting to live one’s life entirely in relation to Orange Man: * how BAD he was yesterday * how BAD he is today * how BAD he’s gonna be tomorrow. Meanwhile Trump’s over here dancing: xitter.cf/realjamesrossi/status/…
George Conway claims Trump’s behavior is becoming increasingly concerning, arguing that his sensitivity to criticism and growing detachment from reality are getting worse. Conway compares Trump to historical authoritarian figures and warns that, in his view, the situation could become more dangerous over time. “These are not good” are the concerns Conway says Americans should be paying attention to.

As the cycle repeats, at some point she moves to Texas or Florida or Tennessee where law, order, & liberty have been preserved by Republican governance. And she never adjusts her voting or realizes that her own voting habits lead to the thing she doesn’t enjoy & can’t abide.
I don't know why this is happening.

“My grandfather, my great-grandfather, they built all of this!” Yes. This kind of moxie can start to inform good long-term policy for those who still have love of country alongside a desire to be kind and generous where we can.
WOW! Young Italian delivered a furious, emotional speech after violent riots erupted in his city Milan, caused by third-world invaders. “I can’t stand these people anymore. I know so many people who come here from all over the world, work hard, and are already out working at five in the morning. If you come here and destroy my country, you’ll be sent back to your own country kicking and screaming! I’ve had enough of this bullshit. I can’t take it anymore! And then they come here, and everything is supposed to be fine? Well, if they rape my daughter or my sister, then we’ll talk! Let’s see Ashline come here and say all this bullshit to our faces! I can’t stand these people anymore. I’m 23 years old, and I want to live in my own city! And we have to be the ones to start. We have to be the ones to rise up and fight back! My city doesn’t even exist anymore. My grandfather, my great-grandfather—they built all of this.”
