💾 HAPPY WORLD DIGITAL PRESERVATION DAY! 🌍
Our digital heritage is part of our collective memory. From photographs and videos to historical documents, archives, and institutional records, these digital assets preserve our stories, identity, and history for generations to come.
Yet, as technology evolves, so do the risks of losing access to this valuable heritage. Digital files can become inaccessible, corrupted, obsolete, or lost without proper preservation strategies. This year's theme, “Save Our Stories (SOS): Our Digital Heritage in Danger,” reminds us that preserving our digital heritage requires deliberate action, the right skills, and sustained commitment.
As records managers and archivists, we have a responsibility to safeguard these digital memories and ensure that the stories they hold remain accessible for the future.
What are we doing today to ensure our digital stories are still accessible tomorrow?

Third day at the 10th KARMA Annual Records Management Conference.
We dived deeper into the conference theme, “AI-Ready Records for Smart, Accountable Governance,” through thought-provoking discussions and engaging breakaway sessions. Discussions ranged from exploring the opportunities AI presents to examining the importance of reliable records, quality metadata, and effective information governance. The sessions challenged us to think critically about how we prepare our records, systems, and institutions for an AI-enabled future. The conversations continue to remind us that AI readiness is not just about adopting new technology. It is about ensuring that the information behind it is trustworthy, well-managed, and fit for purpose.

Every profession is built by people who dedicate their time, knowledge, and experience to serving others and strengthening the institutions around them. During the 10th KARMA Annual Records Management Conference 2026, we took a moment to honour our retired professionals and recognise their contributions to the Records and Information Management profession.
Their years of service is a reflection of the knowledge they have shared, the standards they have upheld, the colleagues they have mentored, and the foundations they have helped establish for those who follow. As we celebrate a decade of KARMA conferences and look towards an AI-enabled future, we recognise the importance of preserving not only our institutional records, but also the professional knowledge, experience, and wisdom of those who have helped shape our field.
To our retirees, thank you for your service, your dedication, and the legacy you leave behind. Your contributions remain an important part of our profession’s story. May this next chapter bring you fulfilment, joy, and well-deserved rest.
