OL MORAN, LAIKIPIA WEST CONSTITUENCY, LAIKIPIA COUNTY, KENYA MONDAY, OCTOBER 26, 2026 I commend Kenya’s security agencies for winning the war on banditry in Laikipia West. No attacks have occurred in the last three years, thanks to the special forces of the police and military supported by police reservists and civilian informants. Laikipia West is one of the areas where bandit networks have been completely crushed, and residents are back to farms and businesses. The Government has been rebuilding previously abandoned schools and strengthening permanent security presence and improving infrastructure. Pleased to commission the Kirima Police Division Headquarters and the Ol Moran Police Station, built at a cost of 21 million shillings.

BAHIR DAR, ETHIOPIA SATURDAY, OCTOBER 24, 2026 How can Africa strengthen its capacity to decide, act and shape its own destiny? Africa's strategic autonomy-its sovereignty- rests on the continent's ability to define its priorities, safeguard its interests, honour its commitments and improve the quality of life for its people. Africa has the minerals, land and population, but it wields minimum influence on decisions affecting its people. Sovereignty requires capacity to decide, strengthening of state institutions to suppress conflict, terrorism and organised crime, existence of which justifies external influence. Africa must finance its own peace, security and development agenda through stronger domestic revenue mobilization, deeper capital markets, integrated payment systems and credible African credit rating institutions that reflect our realities. Africa must work for stronger African institutions, economic integration and engagement of major powers on Africa's own terms without automatic alignment in an increasingly multi polar, plurilateral world experiencing unprecedented geopolitical rivalries. From the Margins to the Centre: Building an African model for peace and sovereignty in an age of Geopolitical Rivalry High Level Panel Discussion. Hosted by Ethiopian Prime Minister Dr. Abiy Ahmed, attended by Presidents John Mahama (Ghana), Evariste Ndayishimiye (Burundi) and Daniel Chapo (Mozambique) as well as former Presidents Goodluck Jonathan (Nigeria), Ernest Bai Koroma (Sierra Leone), diplomats, academics and other distinguished participants.
