I wonder if these book marketers realize that even if I was desperatley wanting their services, I get so many emails that the chances any one of them being the one I'd hire are like 1 in 10,000. Even having blocked well over 200 email addresses, I still get 5 a day from these people

Stop looking at prologues like an author and start looking at them like a marketer.
When people click the read sample on button on zon it'll be the first thing they see.
Treat it like a teaser trailer and kick 'em in the plums with a fire prologue.
It's the reader's introduction to that world. Treat it like a check your book is promising to cash.
