Amsterdam, where cyclists take priority from pedestrians on zebra crossings. We’re told it works in the Netherlands, but this is what we found earlier in the year.

5.2 billion cubic feet of gas moved through the state’s pipes on a mild October Saturday. None of it was produced here. It all arrived on eight interstate pipelines: Algonquin, Iroquois, Millennium, Tennessee, Transco, Eastern Gas, National Fuel and Empire. Most of it kept going. 2.5 Bcf, or 48%, passed through to Connecticut and New England on Algonquin and Iroquois, and to Canada at Niagara on Tennessee, National Fuel and Empire. Another 2.1 Bcf went to the utilities. About 1.7 of that heated homes and businesses. The rest ran power plants behind the utility gates, nearly all of them in the city and on Long Island. Gas plants made 44% of New York’s electricity that day. They needed about 18% of the gas that moved through the state to do it. The biggest draws at their own pipeline taps were Independence in Oswego, Athens, Cricket Valley, Empire Generating in Schodack and Northport. CPV Valley in Orange County, one of the three largest gas generators in the state last year, did not nominate gas at all. Nobody stores natural gas at a power plant. A gas plant burns what the pipe delivers that hour. What the plants keep on site is oil, for the cold days when the gates at Mahwah and Brookfield are already full. This was a mild Saturday in October. The same map in January will look very different.

Since its reintroduction in April, the Delivery Protection Act has supermajority support in the New York City Council. Mayor Zohran Mamdani has committed to signing this critical legislation once passed. The only thing preventing New York City from making labor history? Council Speaker Julie Menin, who has failed to schedule this landmark bill for a vote. Speaker Menin, it’s time to choose: Do you stand with every day New Yorkers who support the DPA, or with Amazon and other companies who endanger workers and the communities they deliver to? Schedule the vote for the Delivery Protection Act and let the people of New York City have their say.

New powerful message from @BarackObama ahead of the midterms: “Get involved and help Democrats win one of the most consequential elections in our country’s history. Because the most powerful office in this country has always been ‘citizen.’”

Federal judge admits on camera to compromising 10% of judges in the last 3 years. I don't know what you call it. I call it treason.
Federal Judge Roy Altman says he's taken "ten percent of all the active federal judges in America" on trips to Israel "just in the last three years." Now, he's apparently making state supreme court justices humiliate themselves by competing with one another to go on said trips. "Whoever's going to go is going to have to play Rock, Paper, Scissors to see who wins," he says he told the justices. "I looked down two minutes later, and these supreme court justices were going like this [and playing Rock, Paper, Scissors]." Absolutely insane this is being tolerated.
