A new day is coming. Soon we'll have leadership who understand just what Big Bend means to all Texans and all Americans, leaders who aren't afraid to fight for it. We've got a lot of work to, but if we do it right, we can send the dozers packing for good.
God already built a wall through Big Bend — it's called the Chisos Mountains. We don't need to give billions of our tax dollars to out of state vendors. We don't need to desecrate this sacred land. We don't need this useless, disgraceful, corrupt Big Bend border wall.

Enzo Vargas made UTSA history with his championship run at the American Conference men's singles tournament. This feature article on his success is one of my personal favorites I've written in my time at The Paisano. Hear from Enzo and Coach Nick Castro about the junior's hot streak in Houston. .@JamesTalarico: We have a mandate the size of Texas now. We’ve got to get big money out of our politics so no trillionaire can buy an election, unrig this economic system that only benefits the top 1%, pass universal healthcare so that no one goes bankrupt just because they get sick, invest in our teachers and our students so every underdog has a fighting chance, and end these corrupt forever wars that are driving up prices. This shouldn’t be just Democrats. This should be Democrats and Republicans and the president coming together to make this change.

I took this photo at a @BetoORourke rally in Round Rock, TX in 2018. @jamestalarico is right beside him. Years later, he will be our next senator. I am so proud of my fellow Texans and how long we have fought to get here. 💙🥲

Tonight, I make a solemn promise to every single Texan. Whether you voted for me or Governor Abbott, or felt so betrayed by a broken politics that you did not vote at all. Hear what Texas said today, loud and clear: Your government belongs to you. And as your governor, I will never forget it. There will be no special set of rules for the wealthy and powerful. No looking the other way when someone in my own party does wrong. The trust you have placed in me tonight is not a blank check. It is a sacred responsibility. And I intend to earn it every single day.
