As polls come to a close, Democrat Michigan Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed says he hopes his campaign and Tuesday's election outcome prove that "America is big enough" for all people, regardless of their faith.
If he wins, El-Sayed would become the country's first Muslim senator.
"A lot of kids have had to watch their president demonize somebody as a function of their name or the way they pray," he told CBS News' @NikolenDC on Tuesday. "My argument has always been that America is a big place with big ideas."
