I grew up in the era where we read actual books in class. Everybody took turns reading 2-3 pages out loud. & if you couldn’t read. The entire class would laugh. That was your motivation to go home and practice.

I hate that Instagram is really obsessed with competing with TikTok that it’s losing what made it special. I miss when Instagram was just pictures. No Reels, no Stories, no Lives, no calls, no videos. Just photos, the Valencia filter, and vibes. We didn’t know how good we had it.

My updated theory on the Trunk or Treats is they have been created to cater to today’s increasingly soft, grit-less, anxiety riddled, easily bored, sensory issues having kid. Parents have snowplowed an easy, low stimulation, low expectations, zero adventure choice for Halloween.

Listen I understand y’all want your kids to have their phones at school bc you worry about them and I don’t really feel super strongly either way about school phone bans but why do almost zero parents go as hard on the concerns about how many teachers are saying your kids literally don’t know how to read. This is the future of America and we genuinely argue more over whether or not your kid should be able to have a cell phone than how/why standardized test scores have drastically declined and kids are multiple grade levels behind on reading comprehension
