@g__j parents boiler went.
Thought, great get a heat pump.
Nope.
3m wait with @OctopusEnergy, @_heatgeek,plus planning application.
Opportune moment to make the switch to a heat pump must be when a gas boiler goes, no?
We need planning reform, and faster install lead times.
Why do cyclists need segregated cycle lanes from psychopaths?
A van driver who deliberately ran over a cyclist while delivering blood to a hospital has been jailed for three years and six months.
Mark Okotie, 44, swerved into the path of a cyclist following an altercation on New Cross Road in Lewisham in March 2024. The cyclist, a man in his 20s, suffered multiple pelvic fractures and a broken thigh bone, requiring surgery.
More than two years on, the victim says he can no longer run as he used to and sometimes panics when he hears large vehicles approaching from behind.

The pedestrianisation of Oxford Street is a godsend for cabbies. They can combine two favourite activities. Taking tourists on the most convoluted route to Selfridges to rack up a fare while having an extra 15 minutes to rant about Sadiq Khan.
Bloody brilliant.
If only there was a way to get Mullins to F’ off out of London too.
Well done Khan, you’re hopefully getting the vermin out.

It will be a success.
It won’t be rolled back.

The black cab lobby in London is something. How they have managed to convince people they are public transit (when they're inefficient, routinely make a fuss if try to pay by car, and fuck over people with service animals) is wild.

I think you’re trying to bring Khan down?
But the ai slop you posted is celebrating the positive change on Oxford St by removing vehicles - including cabbies.

As a person with a disability myself and married to a woman in a wheelchair I’m tired of all these fuckers that go “what about the disabled”. Pedestrianise more streets and bring better accessible tube stations and we’re golden.
Fuck the cars.

Not by cars.
Not by taxis.
Not by buses.
Not by cyclists.
By delivery drivers in the permitted hours.
Did you not bother reading the consultation?

imagine if someone suggested cramming all these people onto the pavements to make space for motor traffic down the middle

This isn't acceptable. Put a team of police officers there and fine them, and keep doing it for a few days. All this nonsense will largely stop.
Cyclists are continuing to ride along the newly pedestrianised section of Oxford Street, despite being asked to dismount.
Around seven security staff have been stationed near Oxford Circus, calling out to cyclists to get off their bikes, with mixed success.

Be extra careful if you’re cycling in London today. The pedestrianisation of Oxford Street has led to localised flooding due to the tears of black cab drivers.

A couple of hours in and already people got the message. It's safe to cross the road.
No vehicles, no honking horns. Just walk, relax, and shop!

You’re right.
They will.
And they should be prosecuted. We live in a civil society.
But you know what else is true? The street is still far safer with them breaking the law than when drivers were going down that street legally.
Let that sink in.
