Not just "there". Across 🇨🇦 in general. 40M ppl, G7 country. 12 US league franchises across "major" sports. Well, 9 if u remove ⚽ as many might say isn't popular here Canadians also call #NSL, #CanPL, #CEBL, #CFL minor league The US sports business model scale is uncompatible

@TennisCanada 👉echowave.io/app/watch/8c61FZ…

While I can't really blame those who passionately follow #TFCLive, its remarkable how many fans think this is a "club" in anyway shape or form (even by MLS standards) & not simply the MLS retail access point the ownership sees it as. There are few teams so heavily run by league.

35 players have scored 10 or more in MLS this season & none of them cost their team $30M CAN... Team America Part 2 not working out this time around for this team... #TFCLive

We are also 90’ away from a 7th season in a row without a 10 goal scorer. 🫣

I'm not sure why I see this account so much in my "for you feed" but it's proof the algorithm knows how to F with you. Although it didn't seem like it at first, this account is the personification of "franchise culture". Can't see sport beyond business metrics.

Ya I would have to respectfully disagree on that. Top college programs draw insanely massive crowds on their own. Getting to play against a team from the NFL would easily bring out 100k fans just from the college.

While clubs around the world are stripping their crests down to minimalist marketing exercises, it’s refreshing to see Portuguese clubs swimming against the tide and bringing back some of their traditional identity. Sometimes, progress means remembering where you came from 💪🏻

Imagine getting into something like this, where franchise value is flattening, operating budget been negative entire lifecycle (even at lowest roster spend last 4 years + controlling stadium) & also dealing with this North American anti club mentality. #SaveTheImpact in #CanPL

🇨🇦 has already embraced this philosophy w/ pro sports: "From a North American resource allocation perspective, actually, its quite terrible to have Canadians investing their limited capital in domestic pro sports leagues when it could all be concentrated in US leagues instead."

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman believes people owning RAM is wasteful, and that it belongs in data centers instead. "From a global allocation perspective, actually, it’s quite terrible to have everyone have a bunch of the world’s limited supply of DRAM sitting in their own computer."

OneSoccer probably wants to be within an existing Sports package. If not this whole fight will yield a very tiny slice of what they were hoping for. #CanPL

1/2 My #CFMTL 3 #CanPL wish is unlikely to happen. Their fans are tearing into the Saputo family so hard their just gonna walk away from soccer after 34 years. After selling the MLS license. 34 years. Same happened to #VWFC to a lesser degree.

2/2 As Canadians, we need to accept that we're a pro sport poor country. People willing to invest at this level deserve some respect & we should hope they remain involved in soccer in some capacity. That should be the focus for both teams.

Any country in the world where clubs fold at this rate? Rest of the world combined? Maybe they're right... The sport just isn't popular... 😅😘

I’m not sure what I’m more surprised about 😅 That former Atlético Ottawa & CPLer Malcolm Shaw is in Afghanistan playing football at Arman FC (alongside several other Canadians!) 🇨🇦🇦🇫 Or that Afghanistan has some decent broadcast & stadium in comparison to AFC standards?

Les traigo una rara del fútbol exótico de hoy: gol de Malcom Shaw, delantero de Trinidad y Tobago 🇹🇹, para el Arman FC en la liga de Afganistán (!). La globalización del futbol es realmente fascinante a veces.
