PRESS STATEMENT Ashiru Urges Uba Sani to Suspend Barau Dikko Hospital Relocation Over Insecurity The Kaduna State gubernatorial candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Rt. Hon. @IsaAshiruKudan , has urged Governor Uba Sani to suspend the proposed relocation of part of Barau Dikko Teaching Hospital to the Specialist Hospital in Millennium City until the security and healthcare implications have been properly addressed. Ashiru said the government should be focused on tackling insecurity and protecting lives rather than pursuing a relocation that could create additional challenges for patients and healthcare workers. “Kaduna residents are already facing serious security challenges. The government must prioritise their safety and ensure uninterrupted access to healthcare. Any decision that could make access to medical services more difficult deserves careful reconsideration,” he said. He called on the state government to consult hospital management, healthcare professionals and other relevant stakeholders before taking further steps, and to demonstrate how the proposed relocation would improve healthcare delivery. Ashiru also urged the Uba Sani administration to strengthen security around healthcare facilities and direct public resources towards addressing the urgent needs of residents. He maintained that the welfare of the people must come first in every government decision, particularly those affecting access to essential healthcare.
