5.0/5.0 CGPA. First Class Honours. BGS. πβ¨
YASSS, I SAID IT! ππ€ Officially a Computer Science graduate from Trinity University!
All glory to God for seeing me through. π₯ΉππΎ
One question I've been asked a lot since graduating with a 5.0 CGPA is: βOsemen, how did you do it?β
How did I manage to graduate with a 5.0 while working as a Backend Engineer & other responsibilities?
Even I sometimes ask God how we did it. ππ
Here's what worked for me ππ½
I also had an interview where I shared more about my journey and answered some questions in greater detail. I'll share the link for anyone who wants to hear more. ππ½

These are some of the things that worked for me. It's not a universal formula, so find what works for YOUR lifestyle and make the most of it. π€
3. CAREER π»
Don't wait until graduation to start building your career.
Explore your interests, develop relevant skills, practice, attend tech events, network, and learn from mentors (I'll be sharing more on how to get started with these in future posts).
Take your midsemester assessments seriously
I aimed for at least 35/40 because that meant I'd need just another 35 marks in my final exam to reach 70 and secure an A. I aimed higher, of course. π
Assignments & class participation count too. Don't leave those marks on the table
2. STUDY TECHNIQUES π§
Prioritise understanding over cramming. If you understand a concept, you can explain it in your own words and apply it.
I also created my own question bank while studying and used it to test myself. Don't just reread your notes; practise recalling.
Read in small portions. Don't wait until exams are around the corner before opening your notes. π
Learn to prioritise, too. University comes with distractions, and you can't do everything. Sometimes, you have to say no to things so you can focus on what matters to you.
1. HABITS π
Build a routine that works for you.
My classes usually ran from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., but I used my free periods to get Backend Engineering work done.
I also set aside time to study at the library. I genuinely enjoyed it, so it became part of my routine. π€

She's also a backend engineer with 2 years+ experience, such a hell of a scholarship material
To everyone who reposted my 5.0 CGPA post, sent messages, or recommended me for opportunities, THANK YOU! π
And please, keep the recommendations coming! ππ€ If you see an opportunity that fits my background, tag me or connect me with the right people.
I appreciate everyone π€

For those new here, I'm Osemen Esezobor, a Computer Science graduate and Backend Engineer exploring AI engineering. ππ½
I'll be sharing more about education, software engineering, further studies, AI, and things I'm learning along the way.

4 years later, Iβm a First-Class Accounting graduate. π₯Ήπ
A few things I achieved in uni:
β’ Public relations officer for the Student Congress Representatives (2024/2025)
β’ Financial Secretary, Accounting Department
β’ Social Director, SCR (2025/2026
β’ Treasurer, Rotary Club
I think one important thing CS students and aspirants need to know is that Computer Science is largely theoretical. Your career depends on the extra work you put in beyond the classroom.
I learned this early, and it helped me build both my degree and career.

Congratulations.
I wish Nigerian universities really do practical learning in computer science.
Itβs 98% theories.
A country where a first class computer science graduate canβt do much practically π₯Ίπ€¦π½
Thank youuu π€β¨οΈ
Of course I didn't just go to school for the books. I am also a backend engineer with 2+ years experience π.
We have the skill in the bags too πͺπΏ
