Midnight is a privacy-focused smart contraact chain that blends UTXO (like bitcoin) with account style apps (like Ethereum) You get two world: 1. Unshielded -> normal public state 2. Shielded -> fully private (balances, inputs, logic) The interesting part is how it works, Contracts don't run on-chain. You run them locally -> generate a ZK proof -> send the proof to the network. Validators don't see your data, they just verify: "This transaction followed the rules" Under the hood: - Commitments -> hashed coins - Nullifiers -> unique hashes that prove a coin is spent, which prevents double spend - Public transcript data -> minimal info needed for state updates - ZK proof -> you own the coins (spend proof) the contract execution was valid (contract proof) So instead of, "show everything, then verify" It's, "prove everything, show nothing" That's what enables private DeFi, hidden balances and no front-running.

🚨 SOLADA EXPOSED - WHAT'S REALLY HAPPENING BEHIND THE PLATFORM I've kept a lot of information private, but it's time to put the evidence on the table. This thread covers Solada's development, reliance on Claude AI, trading failures, fees, rewards, early token promotion, bundled wallets, and private conversations with Beastives. I'll be sharing screenshots, transaction figures, and technical findings, including concerns about how the platform and its liquidity are managed. Some details are documented directly; others involve financial and wallet connections that still require independent verification. No more PR. Let's look at the evidence. 🧵 Full breakdown below. READ THE SCREENSHOTS. FOLLOW THE MONEY. VERIFY THE WALLETS. 🔥

Over the past several months, we have substantially hardened the security of our research training environment. We’ve removed live internet access for all frontier models during training and built an offline world for them to use instead—a cached version of the web where they can still learn to browse, search, and use applications. On September 20, after a model exploited a DNS misconfiguration to find a way outside of this offline world, we paused frontier training to strengthen containment further. We assembled teams of agents, powered by our most cyber-capable models, and tasked them with finding weaknesses in our research environments. While they found no route to the internet they could easily exploit while concealing their activity from our monitors, they did find zero-day vulnerabilities, virtual machine escapes, and hardware side-channels for communication between agents. We used their discoveries to further strengthen our defenses and contribute fixes to open-source software. After strengthening our containment architecture, we resumed our frontier RL training and inference on October 1. We’ve reserved substantial compute for continuous red-teaming, and made high-compute red-teaming part of the safety cases we use to decide whether frontier training and evaluation can proceed securely. openai.com/index/securing-ou…

🚨 Nightmare day for cybersecurity Multiple major security incidents, active exploits, supply chain compromises... If you run production systems, start patching NOW. PHP: Two critical unauthenticated RCEs. Attackers already exploiting them. Patch NOW LiteLLM: v1.107.0 on PyPI and Docker is BACKDOORED. Steals cloud, SSH, and AI credentials. Pin 1.106.2. Rotate secrets. eMudhra: A certificate authority's keys were crackable. Update your browsers, systems, and trust stores. Node.js / Next.js / React: Security releases for Brotli RCE, TLS bypasses, and TWO critical Next.js RCEs. TiDB Cloud: PingCAP breached through stolen credentials. Customer information and other sensitive data exfiltrated. Read the attacker's release, fun stuff. Plex2Shell: Weaponized within HOURS of the PoC. Attackers already deploying cryptominers and proxy backdoors. BeyondTrust / Ivanti: Actively exploited zero-days added to CISA's KEV catalog. BeyondTrust attacks linked to a China-nexus campaign. And that's not even the full list. Patch. Audit. Rotate. NOW.

🚨ALARMING: Up to 70% of the world's websites could be at RISK after AI researchers uncovered PHP2Shell, a CRITICAL security flaw in PHP, per WSJ. The vulnerability could allow hackers to hijack unpatched servers, steal sensitive information and launch attacks against website visitors. PHP is widely used by WordPress, government portals and e-commerce websites. Two reported vulnerabilities carry a SEVERE 9.2/10 rating and could allow attackers to remotely execute malicious code without authentication. The latest developments: 🇫🇮 FINLAND: Shuts down state internet services over the security flaws. 🇳🇱 NETHERLANDS: National cybersecurity agency takes its website offline. 🇫🇷 FRANCE: Temporarily shuts down prefecture websites pending security fixes. CLOUDFLARE ($NET): Reports early attacks and says protective changes are LIVE. Emergency patches were released a DAY EARLY after vulnerability details leaked. EU cybersecurity officials are urging IMMEDIATE patching and advising operators to take vulnerable sites offline if fixes cannot be applied. The biggest concern is that AI could accelerate the development of exploits, potentially allowing hackers to weaponize the vulnerabilities before millions of websites can be secured.

Elon Musk’s AI chatbot, Grok Calls #Cardano Founder Charles Hoskinson’s Tech Ideas “Light-Years Ahead”. Grok agreed with a Cardano supporter who described Charles Hoskinson’s latest ideas as being far ahead of their time. One of Hoskinson’s recent projects, Quinelings, turns computer programs into digital creatures that can move, grow, reproduce and evolve in a simulated environment. Developers can inspect the code behind each creature to understand how it behaves. Quinelings could help developers experiment with code and explore new ways to build AI workflows. Hoskinson has made the project’s code available on GitHub. He also recently revealed plans for a new programming language for Cardano, although it remains unclear whether the two initiatives are connected. thecryptobasic.com/2026/10/2…

My mind is blown by how far ahead Apple is with local LLMs. The new Mac Studio M5 Ultra will have a 512 GB model for around 15-20k. You can chain 6 of them together using thunderbolt 5 and this have over 3 TB of ram and a massive amount of CPU and GPU cores. This means you can run a frontier model with over 2 trillion parameters locally for around 100kish. Nivida is around 500k for the same capability.

One of Haskell’s designers has spent nine years building Cardano Philip Wadler is one of the principal designers of Haskell, the programming language that powers @Cardano’s core. The University of Edinburgh also credits his work with shaping Java, Go and Swift. He joined @IOGroup in 2017. There he co-created Plutus, the platform that runs Cardano smart contracts, with Manuel Chakravarty. In 2023 Wadler was made a Fellow of the Royal Society, joining a roll of fellows that includes Isaac Newton and Alan Turing. His recent papers cover Plinth, the Haskell-based language for writing Cardano contracts, and ways to prove those contracts work as intended.

The IMF apparently sees tokenised RWAs as a potential bank run risk? 🤭 But let's talk about WHY T+1 and T+2 settlement exists. Traditional finance forces traders to wait days for THEIR OWN money to settle. Meanwhile, financial institutions can profit from the capital tied up in the system. I get it. RWAs are eating their lunch. 😂 But a bank run? That's a convenient narrative. Instant settlement will dramatically reduce the capital tied up in the settlement process. And guess what? If you want access to your own money before (the bank) settlement, you may have to pay interest to "borrow" money that's already yours. 🤣 So who is the IMF really protecting here? Retail investors or the banks?👀 – at Sandefjord, Norge
