Kiwi chicks first night out, still a little unsteady but this was filmed a week ago. Dad hatched 2 chicks 2 weeks apart and dad is still fussing over the younger one. This is on my neighbours place.

Downtown #Pittsburgh sure looked eerie this morning as fog rolled down the rivers. For a few hours the Allegheny River was almost completely clear before the really heavy fog came in, which made for some amazing scenes from Mt. Washington

Back from the brink of extinction: Critically endangered kākāpō numbers have surpassed 300 birds for the first time in 75 years. 90 chicks were officially added to their population on September 1, bringing the total to 325—a record high since recovery efforts began in 1995, with only 51 birds left. Breeding success was triggered by the mass fruiting of New Zealand's rimu trees.
