As a homicide detective, I can say with all of my being that there is no lesson learned in seeing someone die. But there is a price. And that price is your peace. Your decency. And the soul of our society. We don’t have to be this way, this fake tough but real ugly way. Stop
Breaking news: The firing squad execution of Fort Hood shooter Nidal Malik Hasan will be live-streamed, the Defense Department said. “People need to understand that there’s serious consequences for these types of things,” Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said. wapo.st/4hNxK0C

And... a decade before Dennis Hastert admitted to his own child sex crimes, he also turned a blind eye to former congressman Mark Foley's reported abuses of teen pages, as documented by a bipartisan investigation. I wrote about it here, back in 2006. gfmarchives.com/language-of-…
BREAKING Former Republican House Speaker and serial child molester Dennis Hastert has died. Hastert admitted in federal court that he sexually abused teenage boys while he was a high school wrestling coach. He never served prison time for that sexual abuse because the statutes of limitations had expired. He did, however, serve 13 months in federal prison after pleading guilty to illegally structuring cash withdrawals to evade federal reporting requirements, conduct tied to hush money payments to one of the survivors of his predation. Hastert was 84.

So essentially he’s unwilling to acknowledge people can, and do DIE as a result of being a part of abusive church communities. Is he aiming for his own bodies behind the bus shocker? The projection here with the “men with less courage” is notable. So strengthening HIS calling is1
Grace City Church founder Josh McPherson has found himself in the crosshairs of Christian podcasters like @reachjulieroys this week for his bizarre primer on how to avoid accountability as a megachurch pastor. I break down his 15-point plan in my latest: open.substack.com/pub/domini…

The Southern Baptist Convention @SBCExecComm has again proven, including their new President, @WillyRice saying the sexual abuse investigations were a “hoax” and a “snipe hunt”, then the @albertmohler Mohler Amendment passage, the SBC is not a safe place👇for children and women!

The U.S. Senate unanimously passed TREY’S Law (S.3966) in May 2026. Seven states have already enacted this bipartisan legislation. Now, it’s time for the U.S. House of Representatives to act, and we need your help! A survivor’s freedom of speech should not depend on their ZIP code. The federal version of TREY's Law protects victims' voices and freedom of speech by prohibiting NDAs in civil settlement agreements related to child sexual abuse and trafficking. Help us build more momentum to pass TREY'S Law federally by donating $50 for 50 states! Your donation can help ensure victims' voices are restored and heard — nationwide. 🔗 Support this movement to see #TruthSetFree at: treyslaw.org/?form=FUNLDCBKZ… #TreysLaw #StandWithSurvivors #Unsilenced

Hegseth also announced a new Office of Religious Affairs that will report directly to him, another tentacle of this effort. When will Amer news media actually interview experts around the world in religious nationalism & democracy to accurately report how perilous this is? 3/

In his "State of the Force" speech today, Pete Hegseth managed to wedge in 2 notable Christian nationalist phrases: "appeal to heaven" & "putting on the full armor of God." Both of these represent a very dangerous & anti-democratic conflation of military service & religion. 1/

In my opinion, Tim Tebow’s anti-trafficking work doesn’t negate the Life Surge concerns, it amplifies them. You cannot compartmentalize the two. Counter-trafficking *requires* a deep understanding of financial coercion and labor laws. The latter of which, Life Surge faces multiple lawsuits for.
Tim Tebow announced he is “pausing” his relationship with Life Surge following our investigation with @MotherJones. More to come.

We were told “he was drinking too much” and that’s why they didn’t allow him to preach anymore. I was shocked to learn he was still alive in 2009. I did not learn of his abuse until 2018. It’s like @ihopkc wanted us to think he was dead. Lies of omission.
Stumbled across this 1991 Olathe Daily News article today about Bob Jones’ confession of sexual misconduct involving a mother and daughter. John Wimber sent Ken Gulliksen, the Vineyard USA's North American director, to investigate. Gulliksen heard from the victims. He heard Jones confess. Then he told the newspaper: “Separate from the incident, he’s a sweet guy.”

Last week, @ElizCPhillips was featured on the At Home With Roby podcast. As Trey's sister, Elizabeth shared the story of how Trey’s Law began, how it has progressed into a national movement to end the misuse of NDAs in child sexual abuse and trafficking cases, and ways people can get involved. "This is something that we can solve. We can end the silencing of child sexual abuse and trafficking victims — something that should have never been legal in the first place." - Elizabeth Phillips 🔗 Listen to the full podcast episode at iheart.com/podcast/1300-at-h…. A victim staying close to an abuser is a very common survival mechanism. What does it say when your defense relies on weaponizing her kindness?
Rep. Max Miller: "So ask yourself, if I had assaulted her, would she have offered to cook me dinner six days later?"

Christianity does not look like praying, singing, and giving money while ignoring the screams, unspeakable suffering, filth, and death of others. Christianity is not calling others "them"—somehow unlike us, not human, and deserving of their suffering.
