Who knows better how to haunt than Carmen? A great story that leaves you in a slightly different configuration than when you began to read it. Worth the risk.

Surprised myself today when I realized that five of the eight fictions in my collection-in-progress have been or will be published in some of the finest literary journals: @_conjunctions, @salthilljournalHill, Saranac, & Sleepingfish; & The Tunnel at 25! Grateful, in other words!

'Saints hold a tambourine, a lily, a pomegranate, a flame, a red book, a plum. A chalice of seawater. The world’s last music. A fire in a stone bowl. A starling. A globe. Their longing makes a burning sound. Their most precious blood tolls. A dulcimer.' 🔥 conjunctions.com/print/artic…

Ah, Joyce, you have many pleasant and educational hours ahead watching Ancient Aliens on the History channel! Zanche & Lilith probably already watch the show when you’re away. The truth is truly out there…
ghosts seem to be ubiquitous in all cultures, time travel is a relatively new notion (H.G.Wells, 1898, the first to envision a "time machine"), but when were UFO's first recorded? trying to recall any mention of anything resembling UFO's in 19th century literature....& cannot.

Big ups to Meg Toth for this deeply insightful & original essay on the great Jackson's second novel, not a book to pass over in favor of Haunting & her other better known works. SJ's depiction of 17-year-old Natalie's passage into adulthood is exceptionally sensitive & disturbing
Thrilled to have my work appear in the inaugural issue of Shirley Jackson Studies! Check out the issue online, including my essay on Hangsaman and mid-century crime fiction.
