Why are Filipinos always expected to be resilient when what we actually deserve is a life that doesn't constantly test our resilience?
We have so much to be proud of: our culture, traditions, languages, history, hospitality, creativity, and resilience. But sometimes, I think we romanticize Filipino resilience too much.
We shouldn't have to be exceptionally hardworking just to afford basic necessities. We shouldn't have to treat decent healthcare, quality education, accessible transportation, and financial stability as privileges.
We have so much to be proud of: our culture, traditions, languages, history, hospitality, creativity, and resilience. But sometimes, I think we romanticize Filipino resilience too much.
Being Filipino is something to be proud of, but being born into a system that constantly makes life harder for ordinary Filipinos is an entirely different conversation.
