BASE ON CAMPUS: From Bringing Students Onchain to Empowering Student Builders When we started Base on Campus, the goal was simple: introduce students to Base and show them what was possible onchain. Since then, we’ve taken that mission across six campus tours, meeting students, starting conversations about blockchain, and bringing more people into the ecosystem. But the journey has been about more than just showing up on campuses. Here’s what we’ve been building. Introducing Base to campus communities We took Base directly to students, creating opportunities for them to learn about blockchain, explore onchain applications, and understand how they could participate in the growing onchain economy. Beyond our campus activations, we also reached out to Heads of Departments to explore introducing Base Blockchain Societies within universities. The goal was to create communities that could sustain learning, collaboration, and builder activity beyond a single campus visit. Bringing people onchain We helped students take their first steps into crypto, including giving some their first crypto assets and onboarding students to the Base App, now Coinbase Wallet. For many, these interactions were their first real exposure to using an onchain product. Every conversation and onboarding experience reinforced an important idea: adoption starts when people get the opportunity to experience the technology themselves. What comes next? As we look toward our seventh campus tour, we’re expanding our focus. Africa doesn’t just need more people learning about blockchain. We also need more builders creating useful products and finding the people who will actually use them. This is where Base Builders Meet comes in. As part of our next chapter, we’re bringing builders working on financial products together in one room to connect, share ideas, explore opportunities, and discuss what it takes to build products that solve real problems. The bigger ambition is to connect these builders with real campus communities where their products can be tested, improved, and introduced to early users. Campus Tour 7: UNILAG Our seventh tour is an opportunity to take this vision further. We’re moving from simply introducing students to Base toward strengthening the relationship between builders, their products, and the communities they serve. Six tours have helped us start the conversation. Now, we want to help create the conditions for more building, collaboration, and adoption.
