See my issue is he ALWAYS released remixes so I’m not sure why Blood remixes were different…?? Then went ahead & released HORRIBLE remixes on Thriller 25…

Michael wanted to release the first 5 songs on BOTDF as an EP and he certainly didn’t want to add the remixes, however Sony saw a commercial opportunity in combining them with remixes to coincide with the European HIStory Tour.
Michael openly admitted that he disliked people coming in and completely changing his songs. When told Sony claimed younger audiences loved remixes, he seemed relieved when the interviewer challenged that argument. The irony is that the album became (and still is btw) the best selling remix album of all time, while the five original songs are often overshadowed by the remixes.
It was also an era where remix culture was becoming increasingly popular, with labels looking to reintroduce established artists to younger, club-oriented audiences.
This is why I cannot get behind or support the posthumous material released without his input. Because it’s not Michael’s work and knowing how much detail and effort he put in to perfecting his work, it just does not sit right with me at all.
The fact that I don’t own this album in any format…
