And you know what, maybe there was a more centrist centrism that they hadn’t found yet, maybe that’s why

If this holds, particularly with the "Kamala is for they/them" last-minute ad push, it is going to inspire Canadian conservatives to lean even further into dark transphobia in the coming months and years.

The BC Conservatives rebranded to take on the NDP (with a Canucks-inspired logo, says the ED). But the bigger branding story: the party attracted people looking for a true blue conservative home, filtering out controversies as "noise." My @TheTyee story. thetyee.ca/News/2024/11/01/H

Call me old-fashioned, but where I’m from (the mean streets of North Vancouver), if you’re a politician needing legal counsel to account for hate, reprehensible conspiracy theories, and guano opinions you’ve expressed

you should just resign.
Let me be clear, the Quebec Mosque Shooting, Aurora, Orlando, and Sandy Hook were all very real mass shootings — innocent people lost their lives, and we should all mourn these tragedies. What I was trying to say is the whirlwind of US media and commentary makes everything chaotic and confusing to people watching the TV. People’s understanding of what’s going on changes from moment to moment and it’s all just so difficult to understand. News commentators and all of their political angles, particularly when it comes to US media, don’t make things any easier. Sadly, these mass shooting incidents and the deaths they have caused are all very real. I sincerely wish they weren’t, because they’re horrific and needless tragedies. Following advice from legal counsel, I will no longer be commenting on this matter or any other matter related to social media posts from years ago. I absolutely remain committed to standing up for everyone in Surrey South.

on #NDTR I implore you to think about what this day actually compels you to do: understand the past in order to change the present and create a better future, not just for Indigenous people but for everyone who needs a planet to live on

I spoke with First Nations leaders in BC about what a Conservative win could mean for reconciliation. They were blunt — not good. The Conservative Party didn't respond to questions or make anyone available for an interview. My latest for @TheTyee. thetyee.ca/News/2024/09/27/R
