My family left #Yellowknife at 9 pm yesterday and have still not reached Edmonton.
24+ hours on the road and counting... Absolutely heartbreaking. #ClimateCrisis #NWTWildfires

A reminder of the world class care that Canada's children's hospitals deliver on a daily basis.
Right-sizing children's health systems enables capacity for every day miracles to occur for children, youth and families. ❣️

I saw someone with frostbitten toes in the ER recently. He had slept in a stairwell when temperatures were under -30C.
He in fact did have a home, but didn’t have the money he needed to get there.
Lack of housing. Poverty.
Canadian society should be warmer than this.
#SDOH – at Yellowknife, Northwest Territories
In one of the world’s richest countries, hundreds of thousands of people are without housing.
Housing First means saving lives by keeping people in housing ($3,500/month) vs in hospital ($30,000/month).
But in Canadian winter, the policy focus seems to be removing tents when people are at risk of losing fingers/toes. Housing for All is a matter of social justice and sound economics.

I’m at the hospital with my daughter who is receiving an iron infusion.
The care has been exceptional - the nurses kind, attentive, reassuring.
A reminder that despite our challenges it is the people that remain extraordinary. 🙏🏼
