Nneka Mobisson (@NnekaMobi) is reimagining what the future of maternal healthcare can look like in Nigeria: more accessible, more responsive and closer to the women who need it most.
Through @_mdoc’s Digital Mom Project, women receive tailored support, trusted health information, and stronger connections to care, helping more mothers stay engaged with essential services throughout pregnancy and beyond.
For Nneka, this work is also deeply personal. Inspired by her father’s belief in the power of technology to save lives, she is carrying that legacy forward by using AI to help address healthcare inequalities in Nigeria and across Africa.
Her work shows how locally rooted innovation can make care more personal for women, families, and entire communities.

Our first stop was at @_mdoc’s NudgeHubs, Balogun market, under the Digital Mom Project, which opens daily to promote wellness checks and preventive care for general population. Women and men walk in to check blood pressure, weight, and other #NCD markers in a supportive and nonjudgmental space. It’s not just about access; it’s about dignity.
The health coach model restores trust, one conversation at a time. Using digital coaching and behavioural nudges, pregnant women are supported to attend #ANC regularly and adopt healthy practices. We heard from women how personalised support and data-driven engagement are improving outcomes.

From Ikotun PHC, the team visited a tier 2 PPMV approved trained under the IntegratE PACS project and approved by @PCN_Registry. She now provides a wide range of PHC services. Her modest facility is serving the healthcare needs of people in Ijegun community, Alimosho LGA.

It's International Day of the Midwife 2025!
Strengthening midwives’ role in maternity and newborn care services would save millions of lives each year while significantly enhancing women’s overall experience of care, according to @WHO.
But are we doing enough to support them?
