TNG Picard is literally one of the best examples of the most complete form of masculinity we've had in popular media in the past half century, and there's a good chance we'll never see such a fleshed out expression of this in popular media again.
He was a philosopher, warrior, tactician, diplomat, and military commander, both stoic and poetic, yet fair in his rulings. He showed what it looks like to wield ruthlessness and moral conscience in one man - something there are startlingly few examples of, and so if you are short on positive male role models, you could do a lot worse than Captain Picard.
Rest in peace, Patrick Stewart, and God bless your soul, for in your portrayal of Captain Picard you modelled to a generation of clever and awkward young boys what it looks like to be an incorruptible, courageous thinking man in a sea of one-dimensional brutes and nerds, for amongst them you were a shining example of what the best of man can be, in all the intricacy of his potential for beauty.

Just learned that Patrick Stewart has passed away. Such a sad loss. Here he is in one of the best things ever put on television, the Star Trek episode “The Measure of a Man.” I show it to my students in Philosophy and Science Fiction every year.

Legendary actor Sir Patrick Stewart, best known for his work in the "Star Trek" and "X-Men" franchises and his prolific award-winning stage career, has died at 86 years old, his spokesperson confirmed.
Stewart died at home on Wednesday, with his wife Sunny at his side, a post on his social media channels said. His death followed "a brief and poignant journey with Alzheimer's Disease and Lewy Body Dementia," the post said.
