The phrase "one nation under God" was officially added to the U.S. Pledge of Allegiance on June 14, 1954. Get rid of it.
Separation of church and state.

My mind being filled with negative thoughts at 1am but then the Sonic "Don't trust how you feel about your life past 9pm" image flashes in my head and I realize I'm fine actually:
You don't know shit about me and how I like to present. I'm just as valid for being nonbinary. It's exclusionary people like you that tear the trans community apart
I think a lot of people are misreading the point here. I totally understand that you can't always just "shrug off" what makes you trans. But transitioning and looking visibly queer is a choice, whereas being black is not. Sex and race just shouldn't be compared like this
Ok and you're exlusionary. I'm in no way a "larper" and the fact that you think me being nonbinary excludes me from the trans community is super harmful in itself. You don't know shit about me. What if I plan on medically transitioning myself? Am I still larping?
I don't think that. It does seem though that many people are blatantly ignoring the main point of this conversation, which is WHITE queer people. You can hide being queer, you can't hide being black. You still have more privilege than a black person as a white person.
And you absolutely can mask, go dl, or closet yourself as a queer person to avoid violence. No one is saying that it's a good choice. It fucking sucks. But black people do not have that ability
Sure man, whatever you say. The point still stands that white queer people have more privilege than people of color. Not because they are queer, but because they are white. People are blatantly ignoring the main argument here
Okay and if you've medically transitioned, you can often lie that you are cis. The conversation here is specifically about white queer people. If you are white, EVEN IF YOU ARE QUEER, you are inherently more privileged than a person of color.

The conversation was talking about queerness in general, not just being transgender specifically. The oppression white queer people face is just not comparable to racism. We have more privilege as white people, even if we are queer.

And we cannot downplay what other minorities deal with because of our own struggles with oppression. You can't be a closeted black person. There is no way for them to hide from the violence of racism. We can't interpret these conversations as an attack on us.

I'm not saying that it's a good thing. It's terrible that we as trans people have to stay in the closet to avoid violence. But we HAVE THE ABILITY TO, unlike people of color. So yes, in that sense we are minutely more privileged. But oppression is not a competition

THATS NOT WHAT THEY'RE SAYING AT ALL. Stop being dense. I'm a trans person. The comparison they are making is that being black is a permanent, physical aspect that cannot be hidden. Being transgender is generally less obvious physically, and absolutely can be downplayed/hidden
Okay but being black is a physical quality of the body and there is literally nothing that can be done to hide that. No one is denying that being in the closet sucks and that being trans is hard. But you CAN make it less obvious to others that you are trans or queer
