Tanzania, Angola Sign Four Agreements to Strengthen Bilateral Cooperation The United Republic of Tanzania and the Republic of Angola have signed four bilateral agreements and Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) covering justice, air transport, information and communication technologies (ICT), and metrology during the State Visit of Angolan President H.E. João Manuel Gonçalves Lourenço to Tanzania on 29-30 October 2026. The agreements aim to deepen bilateral relations and expand cooperation in strategic sectors supporting economic development, institutional collaboration and people-to-people relations. The Agreement on the Transfer of Sentenced Persons provides a framework for cooperation on transferring eligible sentenced persons in accordance with the agreement's terms and applicable legal procedures, strengthening bilateral cooperation in criminal justice. The Bilateral Air Services Agreement (BASA) establishes a framework for air transport cooperation, with potential to improve connectivity and support trade, tourism, investment and other economic activities. The Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in Information and Communication Technologies seeks to promote knowledge and expertise exchange and advance collaboration in digital development. The Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in Metrology provides a framework for collaboration in measurement science and related technical fields. Tanzania's Minister for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Hon. Amb. Dr Mahmoud Thabit Kombo (MP), Angola's Minister of External Relations, Hon. Téte António, Dr Ladislaus Benedict Chang'a, Director General of the Tanzania Meteorological Authority (TMA), Amb. Jorge Catarino Cardoso, Angola's Director for Africa, the Middle East and Regional Organisation, and Hon. Mario Augusto da Silva Oliveira signed the agreements on behalf of their respective countries. The signing of the instruments underscore both countries' commitment to advancing shared development priorities and strengthening bilateral relations.
