Prices of core PCE services ex-housing rose 0.37% in September, pushing the 12-month change to 3.6% and matching the highest such reading since 2024. Core goods was also firm at 0.20%. While core goods prices were back in 2024 were falling on a year-over-year basis (as was the pre-pandemic trend), those prices are now at 2%. If core goods prices rise like this going forward, there will need to be more services disinflation for the Fed to achieve its 2% target.
Core PCE was 0.32% in September. The 12-month change was 3.1% (vs 3.0% in August and 2.8% one year earlier). The 6-month annualized rate was 2.9% (vs 2.8% in August and 2.9% one year earlier). The 3-month annualized rate was 2.9% (vs 2.2% in August and 2.6% one year earlier)

If the FED doesn’t start considering this as a new normal for inflation and GDP (data center driven and top 10% consumer driven), they’ll have to be hawkish. But what if they really will? Well, then I think the outcome will be crash in the markets and Scott Bessent goes bankrupt As I have been saying: Warsh is handcuffed. He’d better agree on this…

2/5 Google appears to have broken down from a symmetrical triangle that had been forming on its hourly chart since April. With $335 support breached, $GOOGL could undergo a correction of roughly 20% toward $260.

Depending on today’s FOMC decision and tone, DXY can still be viewed as sitting in a bull trap zone at this resistance. A sharp correction from here would be supportive for commodities and risk assets broadly, EXCEPT Brazil..... Brazilian assets have traded on their own dynamic over the last 3 weeks and are likely to keep doing so in the weeks ahead, but on the downside. They probably won’t benefit from a potential DXY bull trap. I may be wrong. Markets sometimes surprise us. But that's my feeling arising from a dovish Kevin Warsh within 2 hrs
