Being an EX-musician that also had a supposed hit single on the radio ( It was on the radio but it wasn’t a tier one station, all though it did get requested multiple times with the max amount of plays without owning exclusive rights of the beat ) in my past this means a lot! Studio time is rather expensive if your not your own producer. I’ve paid up to 100$ an hour and that’s still on the low end! What a lot of people don’t take into consideration is what if you don’t record your track perfectly on the first take ? Then of course you would have to pay for more studio time to get it done. The mixing and mastering costs as well. If you want to shoot a music video that also costs and the editing of the video is a separate cost. When you want to preform if your not already a super popular artist then you WILL have to pay to preform and your first venues will be strip clubs, churches, schools, music events ( Like SXSW ) and others that you have to pay for. We like to call this opportunity cost. This is the hidden side of musical entertainment. These are all things that go before you grass roots marketing that you also have to do. This means yet again paying people for promo or buying equipment that you can use to make content for your promo. When your and Indie artist the onus is on YOU to make the money to propel you further as well as put out quality enough work so your fan base not only stays but continues to grow. So just think about this. An artist spends most of their time spending money before the music is made and even more money once they want to preform that music. The only time when you don’t have to pay is when you put your music out on platforms that don’t require a subscription like YouTube, SoundCloud & Etc. Even with major streaming you still have to go through a music distribution service potentially even DistroKid which will invite more costs. All of this only to wait for long duration of time between payouts if you even have the fan base to print you some real money. I know someone who over the span of 3 years has only made 12$ with all the music they put out. This isn’t someone with a small following either so it gives you perspective on the scope of what I’m referring too. I think @_misofm is a major step in the right direction as it changes a lot of these primitives I’ve stated earlier that are already existing in the modern scape of music. This would be a great project with or without crypto but forsure as it continues to grow in success the fact that it’s built around crypto will only make that crypto that has attachments grow along side it. Music is one of the strongest things in this world so capturing it is akin to capturing lightning in a bottle. This isn’t a shill these are my pure unfiltered thoughts through my lens of experience.
