There is a version of poverty most people never talk about.Full grown adults who never learned to swim, cycle, skate, or play an instrument. People who never took a gap year, never traveled, never spoke a second language. It is not a lack of interest. It is a lifetime of hustling

This is the dumbest take I’ve heard all year. And it’s been a crazy year 🤯 Let me dismantle this argument using the same analogy, with one correction. A family earns 50k (But instead of 5k going missing, 40k disappears - a much closer illustration of reality). You’re poor. Yes! But poverty is your condition. Corruption is the biggest problem keeping you trapped in poverty. That missing 40k is the money meant to fund education, skill acquisition, productive assets, building a business or creating opportunities that would actually help you earn more and escape poverty. But instead, you’re left with 10k and somehow being told by this lad that your biggest problem is that you don’t earn enough. Even if you believe him and your income rises to 500k tomorrow, is it not 400k that will still disappear ? Even scripture recognises that “Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much” (Luke 16:10) Now. Revenue doesn’t fall from heaven. It comes from productivity, investment and value creation, all of which depend on the very resources that corruption is stealing. And even if you miraculously generate more revenue, there’s no amount of money that can save you from institutionalized corruption. We’ve seen people inherit enormous wealth and end up bankrupt because they couldn’t manage what was already in their hands. If you cannot account for what you already have, earning more simply gives you more to squander. I genuinely hope Seun challenged this, because I cannot imagine allowing someone to spew such nonsense with this level of confidence.
The internet is such an interesting place. This Tibetan Chihuahua doesn't miss an opportunity to talk down on other people's level of intelligence & string word salad - but this is genuinely a stupid person. It is so unbelievable 😂

You just set feminism back 20 steps with this statement.
The bride should sue him for public humiliation. Because what exactly is outrageous about ₦1.2 million bride price? If you ask me, that’s not even an unreasonable amount to demand from a man who claims he’s ready for marriage. Half of Nigerian men want the benefits of marriage but don’t want the financial responsibilities that come with it. Everybody wants to be called a husband, but nobody wants to do the work required to become one. Imagine allowing a woman to prepare for her wedding, invite guests, make arrangements and look forward to her big day, only for you to abandon her because of ₦1.2 million? If you cannot afford marriage, stay in your lane. Stop wasting women’s time and disgracing them publicly. And before anyone comes here to defend him, ask yourself why a man who wasn’t prepared to meet the financial requirements agreed to go ahead with the wedding. Take it or leave it.

"Pregnancy is NOT a death sentence". Since I've made jokes about the matter, I feel compelled to lay my own arguments also. I will start with a defining premise: Everytime a conversation pops on the timeline, I am rudely reminded that arguing on the internet is mostly useless. The internet arms everyone with an ego, even when obvious comprehension mismatch exists. Gaps in knowledge, gaps in intellect, gaps in experience, gaps in comprehension - but same ego level. Arguments are useless. Back to the conversation - again here I come with analogies: "The Sky is NOT black" - This statement is indicating that the sky can be any kind of color but it DEFINITELY is not black. "The Sky is black" - This statement is indicating that, of every kind of color that exists, the sky is DEFINITELY black. -+-+-+-+-+++++++++++++ "Pregnancy is NOT a death sentence" - This statement is indicating that Pregnancy can be lifethreatening, can come with risks, can be complicated but it is not a death sentence. It doesn't in any way reduce the experience of the carrier. "Pregnancy is a death sentence" - This statement is definitive and conclusive. It doesn't highlight the risk, it defines it as a situation where the definitive outcome ALWAYS is death. That is a dangerous narrative, especially when peddled by health professionals - infact, the latter is more disrespectful than the former. Feel free to advocate for better healthcare for women especially in your country & feel free to exercise your rights not to have children but stop perpetuating dangerous health tropes. And while at it, please learn how to apply statistics. If I say: "Stop paying for tech courses. There are no jobs in tech" You will be a fool to tell me about your uncle's brother wife's cousin who got a job last week - because statistically, the job availability has dwindled drastically. If out of every 2000 tech newbies and 10 secure job roles, there are actually no jobs in tech. Other variables constant, a woman is more likely to be pregnant, carry her pregnancy to term and give birth without dying than she is. Some of your mothers gave birth to a dozen. So, instead of peddling pregnancy as a death sentence, advocate for better healthcare in your country. Pregnancy isn't the problem, the politics in your country is. Again, I don't expect this unnecessary epistle to make sense to you if your entire internet existence is to seek new clothings on victimhood. There are enough panderers on the timeline supplying you with that material - I'm not selling what you intend to buy.

How exactly does saying “pregnancy is not a death sentence” invalidate anyone’s experience? They didn’t say pregnancy is child’s play. They didn’t say it’s rice and beans. They said it’s not a death sentence. Why should the only way to validate women who have suffered through pregnancy be to resort to the most catastrophic and extreme portrayal of pregnancy possible? We can acknowledge that women die from pregnancy complications, that some suffer life-altering consequences, and that maternal healthcare needs serious improvement without describing pregnancy itself as a the absolute worst thing in the world. Yes, pregnancy can be dangerous and No, it is not a death sentence. Abi two truths cannot co exist again?
I’ve tried to avoid this topic but here’s my take. I understand the intention behind saying pregnancy is not a death sentence, but I find that statement kind of insensitive. Pregnancy may not be a death sentence for most women, but it can absolutely be for some. Women actually die from pregnancy related complications…some barely survive it. Some sustain life-altering complications. I think we should be careful not to invalidate these experiences in an attempt to make pregnancy sound less scary.

So Peter Obi became president after a colossal power tussle that had people in the streets, which intimately got BAT exiled to France. US tried to get involved but PO wasn't having it. His first order of action was commission a rapid construction project for new prisons. He then had the current prisoners moved to the new buildings, combed the entire government for criminals, charged them to court and had them sent to the old prisons because they didn't deserve to be in the new ones 😭
This dream I had last night 😭

One thing I’ve noticed about Africans is how quick they blame victims. A boy gets killed, and somehow his father is being blamed for living in that neighborhood. Did it ever occur to y’all that maybe that’s all he could afford working low wage jobs? The lack of empathy is insane.
This should teach us that not every city or neighbourhood is suitable for raising children. At some point, I question Javits Frimpong’s father’s decision to raise his son in the Bronx, where the crime rate is reportedly high and gang activities remain a concern in the neighbourhoods. As parents, we must be mindful of the environments in which we raise our children. Otherwise, they risk being exposed to violence, drugs and a life of crime. I hope the Government of Ghana intervenes and offers the family the necessary support during this difficult time. May we all learn from this tragedy, may his soul rest in peace. 💔 🕊️
