Regardless of what I think of him, Trump and his MAGA movement won two elections because they were the most effective marketers. And they’ve massively lost this election because they’ve done a terrible job of telling their own story. I love politics because it always reminds me that it all goes back to people sitting in a circle around a bonfire, waiting to see who the best storyteller is.

I had €100 to build a business with AI. Almost all of it went to the AI itself, not a developer or an agency. I have a movie blog that a tiny team of us keeps running. Every week it’s the same routine: check what’s happened in the industry, choose what’s worth covering, and write it. When the week gets busy, the blog stops. Then one day I realized something. Finding out what’s happening is mechanical. Deciding what we cover and the voice we use isn’t. That’s where ecoo.si came from. It monitors RSS feeds, rewrites articles in the voice you choose, and sends them to your WordPress site. I built it with @Hostinger AI builder. The most important decision I made was not to resell AI credits. You connect your own Anthropic, OpenAI, or OpenRouter account and pay the provider directly. That means my AI cost is zero, whether I have 10 users or 1,000. The downside? You need an AI account with credit on it, and that will put some people off. But... I’d rather lose those people than build something that falls over just as it starts to work. My biggest takeaway is that building the product is no longer the barrier. The hard part is still getting someone to use it and, much later, getting someone to pay for it. No AI is going to solve that for you. I shared the whole process in a video, with the real numbers: lnkd.in/e5A9Wp38

As if my Meta creepy glasses weren't creepy enough 😂
We’ve raised $1.3M from YC & Afore Capital so you never have to type or speak again. Typing is slow. Talking into your computer is awkward. Subvocal fixes both Our glasses give you the speed of speech without you making a sound or touching a keyboard. It tracks your internal speech muscles with non-contact sensing and decodes silent, almost invisible mouthing into text at more than 200 words/min. Pre-orders are now live at: subvocal.co/preorder?utm_sou…

I love the innovation. But I fail to see the use case.
We brought Touch to the Mac! From the all-new iPad mini to the 14-inch MacBook Pro and iMac... and now MacBook Pro with PROLED XDR Display and Touch, creators have new tools to do their best work yet.

I wrote this last night... and didn't mean to share it until today. I find it a bit poetic to be sharing this amidst the PHP chaos that WordPress users have been going through today, but alas... here it is: lewistony.com/why-im-no-long… After +10 years, I'm jumping off the WordPress ship (for the most part).

At least there are good hosting companies out there 🤓
A new PHP vulnerability is in the news. We tested it on our live servers: it can’t be used to take over sites hosted with us, WordPress included. PHP has released a fix, and we’re applying it across all hosting today anyway. No action needed on your side.

Today I'm publishing a post on why I'm no longer building on WordPress (for the most part). I'm grateful for everything it's given me. But... man, I'm so glad for AI.
🚨 PHP warns of two critical vulnerabilities as emergency patches arrive tomorrow The PHP security team will release updates on October 21 at 14:00 UTC for two vulnerabilities, each rated 9.2 under CVSS v4.0. ⠀ Security researchers identified the flaws as CVE-2026-109618 and CVE-2026-109619 and described them as remote code execution vulnerabilities reportedly affecting PHP versions 5 through 8. PHP has not yet confirmed the affected versions, exploitation requirements or fixed releases. ⠀ The vulnerabilities were reportedly leaked before their planned disclosure. Researchers said they have not observed active exploitation, while PHP warned it may release the patches early if technical details become public or exploitation is detected. ⠀ Administrators should identify PHP installations now and prepare to apply the updates as soon as they become available.

One of the best things I've ever done is move all of my domains from GoDaddy over to @Hostinger Good lord, the peace of mind and ease of use... ✨

Got a WhatsApp call from “@wise.” “Tony, we’ve noticed unusual overseas activity on your card.” Me: “Weird, my card’s been idle. Also, since when does Wise call on WhatsApp?” Him: “Well, fuck off, you fucking pussy.” Phishing calls are evolving. Time is not to be wasted.

What if I told you your own server in the cloud costs about 21 cents a day? That’s not a typo. A @hostinger VPS starts at $6.49 a month. That’s less than one lunch out. Less than most of the apps you forgot you’re still subscribed to. And for that you get a computer that’s always on, always online, and completely yours. 4 GB of RAM, fast NVMe storage, full control. Most people still think a VPS is only for developers. I used to think that too. So let me show you what an “average” use looks like. This week I set up mcp.lewistony.com. It’s my own free, self hosted version of Executor, and every single MCP I use now lives there. WordPress sites, client tools, content tools, all in one place. Here’s why that matters: 1️⃣ I connect from any device. Laptop, desktop, phone. Same tools, nothing to reinstall. 2️⃣ Claude works lighter. Before, it carried every MCP locally in every conversation, needed or not. Now it only reaches for a tool when it actually calls it. Less clutter, less workload, better focus. 3️⃣ I own it. No extra subscription, no waiting on someone else’s roadmap. And that’s one use. On the same $6.49 box you can run AI agents, automations, a password manager, photo backups, a personal dashboard. Hostinger has one click templates for a lot of it. So the real question isn’t “can I afford a server?” It’s “why am I still paying five different tools to do what one cheap server could?”

A few days ago we were in Barcelona filming with the Hostinger crew. Two days of lights, tripods and cables to tell the story of people who built a business risking it all. One of them is Manuel, from EME EFE Estudio. He started drawing as a kid, tracing comics against a window. He studied design at night while working in a clothing store. And when he launched his studio, he still had a full time job. Three years like that. The office by day, his own thing by night. He paid for his first computer with paychecks from the job he wanted to leave. Today he runs more than twenty five client websites, almost all of them on his own. What stuck with me most was his advice for anyone who’s where he was back then: you don’t need everything set up on day one. Start small, keep your costs under control and grow as the clients come in. Sounds obvious. But most of us wait for the perfect idea, the perfect website, the perfect moment. Manuel didn’t wait. Thanks for opening up your story to us and for your patience with all those takes. The video is coming soon 🎬

Third party WordPress themes are dead. Page builder powered themes are dead. Just have Claude build you your own WordPress theme.

10+ years in WordPress. Sites for clients across every industry. Worked for some of the biggest dev companies in the space. Now helping make Hostinger the best agentic platform to start something online. I'm writing up how I feel about AI and where WordPress goes next. It's deep.

Most of the year, I see my teammates as a grid of faces on Google Meet. Then @Hostinger brought our whole YouTube team to Corfu for a week. Sticky notes on windows, short films made with people I rarely work with, and plenty of ping pong. It was my third company retreat, and it proved the same three lessons all over again. I wrote them up here: lewistony.com/three-lessons-… If you lead a remote team, I think this ones worth a read.
