Who could have predicted this
Oh wait I did back in March and begged congressional Dems to use their appropriations leverage to do something about it
The Department of Homeland Security is openly engaging in an unprecedented, partisan campaign to intervene in the midterm elections. My latest piece @NewYorker surveys the effort and looks at what it means at the local level: newyorker.com/news/the-polit…
A massive scandal. Rep. Clyburn was steering contracts to Navatek, the same company Dems are hitting Susan Collins over. He was doing the *exact* same thing. Some people on the Hill, both elected and staff, need to lose their jobs today.

Wildly dated, dumb take from Yglesias—Alinsky was passé on the left when I was an organizer-in-training in the late 2000s. Alinsky/IAF-model organizing stresses building coalitions of churches, unions, etc., which Mamdani’s Gaza hecklers arent doing. FoxNews-Obama brained stuff
IMO the city hiring is a sideshow; the key to understanding this story is the botched murder investigation in 2023.
Did shoddy police work let a killer go free, who would go on to kill an officer? Or, did PPD frame an innocent man, making this seem like some sort of revenge?
i don’t get why people wouldn’t want this guy to have a job. like yes he’s obviously a bad guy. but if he’s not in jail AND he’s unemployed, that seems worse for him and society?
