If we required all bottled water be from desalination, the plastic bottle would still cost more than the clean water.
For those worried about running out of fresh water, it may help to know that desalination only costs 0.1 cents per liter or half a cent per gallon

Motor Simulator Update - YT video in comments Co-Optimized the PCB Wire layout with the Rotor geometry together and... it was boring! The result was up ~4x from the first guess, but it was ultimately a pretty 'normal' design with the biggest coil loop that fits inside the wedge Rotor Side - a bit more complex shape but not far off a simple rotor 'tooth' sticking down. It's a bit disappointing because Radial Reluctance motors end up looking so cool and pretty.

See this motor looks so pretty... all curvey lines. Anyway simulator live at: greylabs86.com/axialflow/ and greylabs86.com/axialflow/hea… for agents

Progress! Motor Geometry Optimization is working... Kind of - it basically hacked out a 2.3x improvement by cheating and making the Rotor extend past the Stator But it did it in style with Death-Scythes of danger!

As always free and accessible here - it's just a bunch of HTML/JS files - greylabs86.com/axialflow/ And it has headless options - designed to be viewed by humans or Agents so thats how claude code ran optimizations all night.

Cat Tower Pop! - My daughter (5yo) described this game for me to build tonight ... and my 8yo was annoyed it "took so long" - nearly 10 minutes! You build the tower but your cat has to be able to climb up - points for height, but also width and the complexity of your shape with physics! Live now on greylabs

Wow, I thought this was a simple edit for the game I'm working on. "rewriting the game's physics"....

Yasa Motors makes the world's best Axial-flux motors w/ crazy high torque density - Now my simulation tool can generate more complex geometries Step one to a real optimization tool! Of course my Rotor will be 3D printed and right now I'm not planning to use magnets but... Live on my site, link below

Open-source - Simulation tool here - Local runs on your computer greylabs86.com/axialflow/ Yasa motor here below - the slight skew in the stator winding shape helps reduce torque ripple at the boundary edges.

A game! My mom's an interior designer and I loved the weird names on all the paint-swatch color palettes so made this: Can you remember the color you just saw? How good is your ColorSense? greylabs86.com/color-sense/

Motors are hard - even Synchronous reluctance motors So built this toy model to grok the fundamentals better Live at - greylabs86.com/toy-synrm/ I was floundering a bit thinking how to optimize both the motor-angle (γ) + the rotor position (θ) to maximize torque in simulation

See the full solver at greylabs86.com/axialflow/ This uses your laptop GPU to solve real magnetic field equations (caveats apply -- I am not liable for any poorly designed motors)

Working on a motor-simulation tool at greylabs86.com/axialflow/ Uses WebGPU to simulate fields on your computer! Long term goal is to make a PCB-Stator driving a 3D-Printed Rotor. So with a single JLPCB board and a 3D printer can build functional motors. No Winding!

Oh My Wow - OpenAI just solved the Navier Stokes Millenium Prize Unsolved for 90 years they did it in... 3.5 days! DAYS 🤯 Whatever code bug you haven't gotten to - it's not harder than this fundamental mathematical physics problem - fire up Claude Code and fix it

Evacuation Zone includes the @TraceUp warehouse - so i've been following closely! I have no useful technical comments but a bit annoyed zero reports have tried to contextualize a "7,000 gallon tank" - Here's a 10,000 gallon pool

🤯 Nobody tells you this but Rancho Palos Verdes and Paris are about the same size. The library we prefer is ONE PARIS away from our house! Los Angeles is wild.

Wow just now seeing how the USS Enterprise is a structural engineering nightmare As a kid it just looked cool! Now I've done enough mechanical engineering I can't un see it.

Just another manic Monday... h/t to @beranalogi and Yapper ai - the first to have seedance 2.0 (with a good interface)
