It isn’t coincidence that the group performing the worst economically are most obsessed with appearing rich for strangers online. No other community would even think of this as a meaningful conversation to have. I just want us to be able to see ourselves more clearly. Sigh

Padme’s medical droid: She just lost the will to live.
Me (there for some reason): Wait, what? That’s not a thing.
Droid: Good catch—You’re right, my first diagnosis of “lost her will to live” was incorrect. She actually had a massive cerebral hemorrhage.

Lawyer Martin Kpebu has added his voice to the growing concerns regarding the safety of Ghanaians in the United States.
Kpebu stated that he fully supports Ambassador Victor Smith's stance, emphasizing that Ghana must express its displeasure and deep concern over the spate of gun violence affecting its citizens abroad.

I don't think the fan film should replace the original, but the rampant snobbery I'm seeing in regards to it is pissing me off. Like, dismissing a fan film with lots of effort put into it as slop because its "too dramatic" or whatever is in incredibly poor-taste in my opinion.

Amb. Victor Smith, Ghana's Ambassador to the US, appeals to Ghanaians to register with the Embassy so they can be reached in times of need, noting that the Embassy cannot assist citizens it does not know about.

The man you say yes to and the man you end up living with can be two different people. I’m always saying, having a good partner is pure luck. There’s no technique that puts you above the program.
Kind of impressive that despite my poor choices and general...stature...I haven't had a major health crisis yet. I need to start prepping for one

"People would be upset if public libraries were proposed today" is one of the most insightful quips about the mindset of a large swath of people today.

Her love was actually conditional on him not murdering innocent children, which is honestly reasonable
Anakin did not kill Padmé.
The medical droid even said she was physically healthy, but she had simply lost the will to live.
She chose to die.
Her love for Anakin was never unconditional.
It was conditional on him remaining loyal to a Republic that was already rotten, run by a corrupt Senate, manipulated by a Sith, and happy to send clones and Jedi to die in an endless war it refused to end.
The moment Anakin rejected that system, she could no longer reconcile the man she claimed to love with the idealized version of him she had built in her head: the good Jedi, the loyal servant of the Republic.
The fantasy she created mattered more to her than the actual person in front of her, and it even mattered more than the two children she was about to bring into the world.
She had the strength to fight the Trade Federation, to challenge the Senate, to stand up to Anakin when it suited her principles, but she could not find the will to live for Luke and Leia once Anakin stopped performing the role she needed him to play?
She did not die because of the Force choke, but because she would rather abandon her children than accept a reality in which Anakin had chosen her (and their children) over a failing, corrupt Republic.
The writers made that clear.

Anyone who can't understand cutting of family has a privilege they should be grateful for; some parents and family members are abusers, destructive and downright evil - if someone has to cut off family, they need empathy not your smelly judgment.

How is that bad? They’re allowing different types of people to finally publish the books they’ve wanted to write.

this only holds up for same gendered twins because the rest of us were absolutely not raised the same. birth order matters, being a son or a daughter matters, neurodivergence and disability matter. those things completely change the environment you are raised in
these "anti colonial" maps always piss me off because 90% of these fake countries would be completey ungovernable on their own. how is a city state in the congo jungle supposed to function in the modern day. european straight borders are a problem but this is too much
