I have always respected India’s leading journalists and television channels for exposing inconvenient truths and bringing pressing public issues to the national conscience. Yet, the growing crisis of predatory payday lending, illegal loan apps and debt-trap lending remains conspicuously absent from mainstream prime-time debates.
Why this silence?
This is not merely a lower-middle-class or middle-class problem. Professionals, entrepreneurs, business owners and senior executives, too, can find themselves trapped when medical emergencies, business setbacks or sudden financial crises leave them with nowhere to turn.
Behind these loans lie questions of regulatory accountability, data privacy, digital coercion, recovery-agent intimidation and the dignity of borrowers. These are not marginal concerns; they strike at the heart of consumer protection and financial justice.
Dear journalists and television editors, what does it take for a crisis to earn a place on prime time? Must it become a tragedy before it becomes newsworthy?
Investigate. Question. Expose. Give this issue the national attention it deserves. Silence only emboldens those who exploit financial desperation.
The debt trap is real. The human cost is real. It is time the media paid attention.

Before Hollywood, I was living in a van in Hawaii and waiting tables at Bubba Gump Shrimp Company. One day, the incredible Rae Dawn Chong walked into the restaurant, and naturally, I went up to her table and said, “Hey, you’re a movie star! What are you doing here?”
She asked if I could act, and I said, “Fuck yeah, put me in your movie!”
She asked for my phone number. The only problem was I didn’t have one. So I gave her my buddy Mike’s number instead. A couple days later, Mike casually mentions, “Oh, by the way, someone called you.” ARE YOU KIDDING ME, MIKE?!
I called her back, and sure enough, she was serious. I drove over to pick up the script, went back to Mike’s house, and read all 120 pages three times in a row. First script I’d ever read. My character's name was Devon, and I remember thinking, “Sweet! I could totally play a Devon!”
I showed up to the audition with every line and inflection mapped out in pencil. Rae told me I could act and offered me the part. I asked if we were shooting in Hawaii. Nope. Los Angeles.
I had about $60 to my name, a bag of clothes, and some rollerblades.
Then Rae told me they'd fly me out. And I remember thinking right then and there, my life just changed forever. I'm going to be an actor.
That little movie was Cursed Part 3, a low-budget horror comedy that opened the door to Hollywood for me.
I'll forever be grateful to Rae for taking a chance on a kid working at a shrimp restaurant. Everybody starts somewhere, and this is where it all began for me.

Everyone is singing in English, then Canadian singer Bryan Adams comes along and starts singing in Italian. You can see how delighted Luciano Pavarotti is, with a huge smile on his face. He seems genuinely impressed and deeply appreciative of the respect Bryan is showing, and you can even see him bowing at the end of the song.
There’s something I can learn from this. If everyone showed love and respect for one another, the world would be a much better place.

Mumbai’s first AI-powered waste camera is being tested at Dr R. R. Marg in Mahim. And it does more than just watch you.
AI-powered camera detects movement when someone approaches the spot to dump garbage. And the moment it does, a loudspeaker springs into action, warning the person not to litter because the area is under CCTV surveillance.
The real test for the BMC will be to ensure that garbage collection vehicles arrive regularly in these localities so people can correctly dispose their waste.

I tried to tell people, digital footprint is very real
What happens inside certain companies, was never meant to be public knowledge
There is a reason it wasn't for decades, now many people are going to pay the price (in addition to companies being greedy) but this helps

I want a refund of the my entire cab ride. The driver took a longer route inspite of telling him not to, didn't switch the AC on and used abusive language to converse. The fare was higher than mentioned.
