Today, I watched #Kanguva with my friends at Kamala Cinemas. We booked the tickets on November 13th (before the release). After seeing many negative reviews, my friend considered canceling the tickets, but he decided to give it a try. Five of us watched the movie today and four of them were watching it for the first time. They all felt the movie was far better than the reviews they had heard.
This clearly shows how social media reviews impact the general audience's mindset. I've seen many sponsored negative reviews on Instagram and I'm not sure who is paying those reviewers. While constructive criticism is important for the film, we can't encourage hate speech or abuse towards the actors or creators.
Same thing happened with the #Vettaiyan movie. If this continues, Tamil cinema will lose its credibility for sure 🙃
