A speed limit is an upper limit. A speed which, if you cross, means you're going too fast. I don't see how 80km/h on the Mahama road is unreasonable. And the fact that the speed limit says 80 doesn't mean you personally can't drive at 50. If you take a closer look, you'd realise that more road accidents are caused by poor road infrastructure than by speed itself: Broken traffic lights Damaged or no streetlights Massive potholes Ramps with no signages No proper and available pedestrian crosses. Sometimes, even poor road design. And on intercity highway stretches, single lanes when they should be double. The problem in Ghana is we reduce almost every form of reckless driving to 'speeding'.
