"The Jewish school my daughter is at already has two sets of ram-proof gates, two further sets of steel gates before parents can get to the playground, and pairs of security guards a wearing bullet proof vests at every gate."
Me, venting, for @dailystar.

“A relatively minor 21st century conflict made me change my mind about my life’s work.”
Erm, ok….
Michael Walzer published “Just and Unjust Wars,” an attempt to delineate the rights and wrongs of warfare in both its causes and its conduct, in 1977. In the nearly 50 years since, no other book on the subject has matched its influence. The precepts are not complicated: it is just to defend your country from an invasion and it is unjust to invade a country that has not attacked you—although Walzer does allow for exceptions, mostly for humanitarian causes. It is just to assume certain risks to avoid civilian casualties and it is unjust to bomb towns indiscriminately to compel an enemy to surrender. The justice of going to war—what philosophers call jus ad bellum—is separate from jus in bello, the justice of how a war is fought.
The war in Gaza has made Walzer rethink one of the book’s fundamental principles. “The wall between jus ad bellum and jus in bello, which had sustained his theory for almost half a century, was no longer sturdy,” Jordi Graupera writes. As Walzer said to him, “There is a sense in which the carnage of Gaza, the ongoing carnage, simply made the war unjust.” Read about why a philosopher of war is now reconsidering his seminal work: newyorkermag.visitlink.me/T7…

The BBC has agreed to pay £400,000 to an award-winning Jewish documentary-maker who alleged she was subjected to antisemitism and pushed out of the corporation after October 7.
Lucie Kon, 57, spent 22 years at the BBC and worked on programmes including Panorama, Today, BBC Breakfast and Storyville. Films she commissioned or helped produce won an Oscar, Emmy and Bafta.
Kon says her treatment changed dramatically after the Hamas attacks. She alleges colleagues described Zionists like her as “evil”, argued that Israel should be called terrorist if Hamas was, and told her to consider what had driven Hamas to carry out the massacre.
When she proposed a documentary about October 7, Kon says she was told she was “too partial” to oversee it because she was Jewish.
She subsequently filed a formal grievance, but a BBC investigation rejected her complaint. Kon says she was then kept away from work for months. During a restructuring, her position was made redundant and she failed to secure the similar role replacing it.
She launched unfair-dismissal proceedings.
The BBC has now agreed substantial compensation, reported as £400,000, without admitting liability or accepting that Kon suffered antisemitism.
Kon says Jewish employees still at the corporation continue to face hostility and feel unable to identify openly as Jewish or Zionist.

Oscar-winning Jewish producer, Lucy Kon, wins payout after victimisation by BBC colleagues
After making a complaint the BBC got rid of her. A colleague said it was “disgusting” the PM visited a Jewish school. Other Jewish staff are still bullied & abused telegraph.co.uk/news/2026/10…
'Children playing games would tell her, 'If you lose, you're a Jew!''
'There were teachers telling her she should support Palestine'
Journalist Hilary Freeman reveals she had to take her daughter out of primary school over antisemitic abuse
Manchester United do not need a "club legend", big name or even a young up-and-comer in charge at this point.
They genuinely need a Sean Dyche or Big Sam to steady the ship and remove every single bit of dead wood and bad habits.
An 84-year-old Sir Alex is also not a bad idea.

This is painful to watch. You can almost see the cogs moving. An absolutist has realised her original position was built on toxic sand and tries to head for decent solid ground. And fails.
Gathering of the Jew-haters.

Owen Jones has done a 16 tweet thread explaining how a 14 year old Jewish student being called a “Jew bitch” and physically assaulted while another is taunted with gas chamber noises is just criticism of Israel.

Most Jewish people are Zionists or at least support a state for Jews in their homeland of Israel even if not adopting the term.
Many people who are not Jews support Jewish people’s right to statehood in their ancestral homeland and so call themselves Zionists. This isn’t problematic
Not everyone is performing for political gain, or trying to take the popular route to votes, or selling out others while they do it. Or standing by a vile motion and the horrific proposers.
Unsurprisingly you are focusing on the wrong people DavZack xitter.cf/zackpolanski/status/21…
Basic education piece:
Not all Jewish people are Zionists.
Lots of Zionists aren't Jews.
The Board of Deputies largely self identity as Zionists.
The Media often report the Board of Deputies as the opinion of Jewish people.
Yet many Jewish people say #NotInOurName

Why does *this* terrorist attack become the ‘turning point for France’?
Why wasn’t the 2017 ISIS stabbing to death in Marseille train station of two women the ‘turning point’?
Why wasn’t the 2018 Carcassonne and Trèbes Attacks by ISIS that killed 4 people the ‘turning point’?
Why wasn’t the 2018 Paris Knife Attack Chechen-born French national stabber the ‘turning point’?
Why wasn’t the 2018 Strasbourg Christmas Market Shooting who killed 5 people and wounded 11 the ‘turning point’?
Why wasn’t the 2019 Lyon Parcel Bombing by ISIS where a parcel bomb packed with nails and screws detonated on a pedestrian street in Lyon, injuring 13 people there ‘turning point’?
Why wasn’t the 2019 Paris Police Headquarters Stabbing by a radical Islamist who murdered 4 the ‘turning point’?
Why weren’t the 2020 Romans-sur-Isère Stabbing by a Sudanese man who murdered 2, the beheading of Samuel Paty by a Chechen radical for showing images of the Prophet Muhammad during a school class, or the Tunisian migrant who murdered 2 people in the Nice Notre-Dame Church Attack the ‘turning point’?
How about the subsequent Tunisian man who attacked and killed at the Rambouillet Police Station, or the Arras School attack killing a teacher? Or the ISIS-inspired Paris Eiffel Tower stabbing murder?
Why were these not ‘turning points’?
These were all on your watch too, @EmmanuelMacron

Owen Jones came on Triggernometry. After being given lots of speaking time, he was asked a few probing questions and immediately turned the conversation into a gotcha style debate. This naturally resulted in him being destroyed with facts and lots of people on the internet laughing at him.
Now he is so butthurt, he spends his days posting videos no one watches about how he was right about everything. While having me and Francis blocked.
Loser energy.

The vast majority of British Jews: "Antisemitism is rife in British schools and Jews really don't feel safe in the UK."
Far left non-Jews: "NAH, MATE. YOU'RE WRONG."
Glad we cleared that up. I feel perfectly safe now 👍
