Shared from the Virgil and Josephine Gordon Memorial Library: Meet the People Behind Your Library! As part of our Stand Behind Your Library campaign, we're introducing the people who help make Gordon Memorial Library such a special part of our community! First up, meet Katie Statham, our Board Treasurer! Katie has served on our board for approximately 15 years, but her connection to the library goes back much further. She grew up visiting Gordon Memorial Library, and her children did, too! One of her favorite memories? Her mom worked at the library when she was little, but Katie was NEVER allowed in the mysterious back room. When she finally became a board member and got to step inside, she joked that she'd officially made it! And here's a fun piece of Sealy history! Katie was told she was the last baby delivered by Dr. Gordon himself, who came out of retirement at 87 years old to deliver her! For Katie, serving on the board is her way of giving back to a place that has meant so much to her family over the years. Thank you, Katie, for 15 years of supporting our library and community!

Shared from the Texas Maser Naturalist Facebook page: Happy National Bison Day! In Texas, American bison not only symbolize the spirit of the American plains, they are ecosystem engineers! Their grazing helps manage invasive plant species and promote the growth of native grasses, creates microhabitats for insects and small animals and aerates the soil to aide in plant growth.  Have you seen a bison?

As cooler weather settles in, San Felipe de Austin State Historic Site is giving visitors a look at how families once prepared their homes for winter.
