Forget all the huge supermarkets and their mawkish Christmas adverts, this was the best Christmas advert - Enniskillen pub Charlie's put out this advert back in 2023. Itโs brilliant.

โIf western countries are not going to take care of the needs of their citizens, what do they expect? Why would you be surprised if you are not allowing students to have classrooms? I mean this protest in France doesn't begin in the centre of Paris โ it begins in the suburbs. And in the suburbs mostly black and Arab students are complaining โ we don't have teachers, we don't have desks, we don't have classrooms. Those were the early complaints.
โAnd this went out on the street and said, you know, what the hell, you're raising the military budget but what about us? You're talking about tanks, we don't have classrooms. So then this explodes because it brings back the Yellow Vest people who were protesting a few years earlier. Similar things, guns and butter, spending money on some useless stuff, what about us? You're bailing out banks, what about us?โ

Apols, omitted from the Tweet below is the listing of guests on the Brendan O'Connor Sunday show on RTE for the past year, guests who would have a well-known stance on Nato, weapons spending, neutrality or Triple lock or a combination thereof.
The only guest who would be solidly pro-neutrality pro-Triple Lock anti-Nato anti-weapons spending was Brid Smith on Sunday 22 March 2026.
As pointed out by someone, Alison O'Connor is omitted from the listing below despite frequent appearances; her newspaper columns suggest she should have been included on the pro-weapons spending anti-Triple Lock guests. The true listing would be even more biased!

Shameless RTE continues to abuse its position to foist voices upon us which are pro-Nato, pro-weapons spending, anti-neutrality or anti-Triple Lock or a combination thereof.
Its weekend flagship current affairs programme with an audience of 399,000 today features Brigid Laffan of the private outfit European Council on Foreign Affairs, whose views weapons spending are well-known. Laffan denies that she was aware that she spoke at a conference in Dublin sponsored by USA weapons manufacturer Lockheed Martin,
This is the listing of guests over the past year who would be regarded as pro-Nato, pro-weapons spending, anti-neutrality or anti-Triple Lock or a combination thereof.. As was pointed out by someone recently, it omits Alison O'Connor who is also pro-militarisation, based on columns she has had in newspapers. The only well-known anti-Nato, anti-militarisation, pro-neutrality pro-Triple Lock voice in the entire year was Brid Smith on 22 March 2026.
That's how unbalanced these panels have been.

Its weekend flagship current affairs programme with an audience of 399,000 today features US-born lecturer Larry Donnelly, whose views on neutrality & military alliances are well-known.

In 2026, RTE is 100% dependant on Government-backed funding, you saw recently the conniptions it had when there was a โฌ20m shortfall in a โฌ725m bailout. Brendan O'Connor was paid โฌ239,988 by RTE in 2025 for around 40 weeks of 4-hr on-air work. Dismantling the Triple Lock is the top priority for Micheal Martin to show off as his legacy. It's rotten, but despite the concerted effort to plant a negative narrative, the majority of the public who express an opinion want to retain the Triple Lock.

I AM HEARTBROKEN AGAIN. HOW MANY MORE TEARS MUST I SHED BEFORE THE WORLD HEARS OUR CRY?
I am writing these words with a heart that is bleeding. Days ago, I stood beside a mass grave in Plateau State, Nigeria, weeping over the lifeless bodies of members of my congregation whose dreams, hopes, and futures were brutally cut short. I cried until I had no more strength. I thought those tears would be enough for one lifetime.
But today, I am heartbroken again.
Four more innocent people have been killed near my church. Four more families have been thrown into mourning. Four more homes have been filled with unbearable silence. Four more people who woke up with hopes and dreams will never return to their loved ones.
WHAT HAVE WE DONE TO DESERVE THIS?
How many more graves must we stand beside? How many more mothers must cry over their children? How many more children must grow up asking why their fathers and mothers never came home?
And who knows whether I am next?
Who can guarantee that tomorrow I will not be the one lying in a grave while my congregation gathers to mourn me? Who will stand beside my family if the next attack takes my life?
I am a shepherd. My responsibility is to protect, pray for, comfort, and lead my flock. But what happens when the shepherd is constantly forced to bury the very people he was called to care for?
My beloved, I am tired of burying my people. I am tired of seeing innocent blood spilled. I am tired of watching children become orphans and women become widows. Must our children inherit nothing but stories of killings, mass graves, and broken families?
OUR ONLY OPTION LEFT IS TO FIGHT FOR SURVIVAL.
We cannot simply fold our hands and watch our families, communities, and future disappear. If we do not stand together, protect innocent lives, and demand urgent action, we fear that one day there may be no one left to tell our story.
Are we going to wait until an entire generation is wiped out before the world decides that our lives matter?
I am therefore making another desperate appeal to the United States Government and the American people.
Please, hear our cry. Please, help us. We are not asking for sympathy alone; we are asking for meaningful intervention to protect innocent lives, strengthen security, support displaced families, and bring those responsible for these killings to justice.
How many more innocent Nigerians must die before the international community acts with urgency?
To the world, I ask: If these were your children, your parents, your brothers, or your sisters, would silence still be an option?
I am not asking the world to remember us only when another mass grave is discovered. I am asking the world to help us while there are still lives to save.
I WILL KEEP RAISING MY VOICE. I WILL KEEP SPEAKING FOR MY PEOPLE. I WILL KEEP CRYING OUT FOR JUSTICE.
Our lives matter. Our children matter. Our future matters.
May God remember Plateau State. May God comfort every grieving family. May He protect those who are still alive and give us the strength to see another day.
Because honestly, I do not know how many more funerals this broken heart can endure.

"A complete failure of governance for a charity"
"Investigators are examining whether there are multiple organised crime groups possibly involved, including Dublin drugs gangs, but also potentially Nigerian organisations."
"A source said there was a suspicion that there had been a โhigh level of criminality through this charity, and there is also bit yet to go in terms of the investigationโ.
