The Timberwolves will have their usual season opening theater as part of the introductions. Every player will be announced, except for Donte DiVincenzo. The team and Donte agreed that they want his first announcement to be when he returns to the court to play.

The Wolves have a lot of players on long-term contracts...
- Ayo Dosunmu, 5 years
- Jaden McDaniels, 4 years
- Anthony Edwards, 3 years
- LaMelo Ball, 3 years
- Joan Beringer, 3 years then restricted free agency
- Terrence Shannon Jr., 2 years then restricted free agency
Those players will be up for extensions before that. But that's still long-term commitments relative to other teams.
Asked Dosunmu this morning about how the Wolves having many of their main pieces under contract long-term informed his decision to re-sign with Minnesota this summer.
"That was a definitely a part of the pie that made my decision even more firm... Those guys being here long-term, when we're the same age, around the same draft class -- all those variables just made the decision to stay even more firm."

The Timberwolves rank 28th in broadcast accessibility, only outranking two other DAZN teams with fewer national over-the-air games
Think it's a real bummer. One of the most fun Wolves' rosters in team history with outstanding broadcast team and fewer people can watch than ever

JK (who’s first language is French, same as Joan) was measuring the weights in KG not in LBS, so 120 KG is 264 LBS.
JK was correct trying to stop him.
Which is another reason why JK is insisting he feels so comfortable in Minn: he couldn’t connect culturally at GSW or ATL.
Jonathan Kuminga on Joan Beringer
“Joan crazy, I ain’t gonna lie he’s crazy… he wants it, he really really wants it… I watch him every day, how hard he push himself and today he was benching 110 pounds and he wanted to do 120 and we had to tell him no… on top of that he’s a good person, he’s a good kid, it means a lot. I think he inspires the rest of us”

The Timberwolves ball movement in the preseason — even with the turnovers — has been noticeable and encouraging.
Will they actually be able to transfer this play style into the regular season when the games count?

Addressing the many concerns about listening to Wolves games if you're outside the Twin Cities.
The @Audacy app, @iHeartRadio app & @timberwolves app all currently have geofencing on them. So, if you're more than 75 miles from downtown Minneapolis the games will be "blacked out." This is mandated by the league, it is not a Timberwolves decision.
I know it's frustrating, especially since the Wolves "broadcast territory" includes all/parts of MN, IA, ND, SD, NE, KS & WI -- a significantly larger area.
Solutions...
1) WCCO 830-AM -- Go old school & find a radio. WCCO's nighttime signal booms across the upper Midwest & a good portion of the rest of the country.
2) SiriusXM Sports Pass -- Radio PBP for all NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL & College games for just $5/month or $49/year + 1 month FREE. Here's the link: siriusxm.com/sports-pass-tri…
3) NBA Audio League Pass -- Radio PBP of every team's games all season (including preseason & playoffs) for just $10. Here's the link: payment.nba.com/checkout
Hope that was helpful, thank you for listening.

"We've traded moodiness for giddiness."
The Timberwolves come to NYC with their new backcourt of Anthony Edwards and LaMelo Ball. Wolves coach Chris Finch said Minny checked in with the Hornets on Ball a few times before they actually got him. While Ball and Edwards could be dynamic on the court, Finch is treasuring the attitude change Ball has brought to the team.
"He's always in a great mood," Finch said of adding Ball. "Always come in smiling. He and Anthony have a shared quality: they're really hard to stay mad at. And they do some things that you want to get mad at. And they have a reflective joy... We refered to ourselves as a moody team in the last couple of years at times and it's probably gotten in our way. We've traded moodiness for giddiness."

Asked Joe Mazzulla about what it’s been like to watch Natalie Nakase and the Golden State Valkyries advance to the WNBA Finals:
“Really happy for just how she's managed going from where they were two years ago to where they are now… the buy-in that she has as a coach and the eagerness to want to grow and learn.”
“They're playing with a high level of inspiration now, which is what you try to have at this point in the year. It’s a credit to their team, and it’s been fun to watch.”

I'm certainly no podcast expert, but this is the right guest at the right time. Most of the time if I'm not agreeing with Rob Mahoney I'm being educated by him + his outside, overall optimistic perspective on the Wolves is a bullseye, especially including the caveats.

FWIW: I think the max the salary cap can go up to is $7.91 million per the CBA. (A 13% increase on the current $7 million cap.)
Standard max would go to $1,344,700 (17% of cap) and supermax would go to $1,582,000 (20% of cap) under that scenario.
