We're conducting clinical trials in the NW of Northern Ireland where deprivation, poor access to care and poor air quality = highest emergency admission rates/ 100,000 population in the UK. Shocking inequality. Be part of the solution. #techforgood @innovateuk @UUResearchInnov
Evidence that improving symptom control is the right Net Zero target, not inhaler switching.
Using health records of 236,506 people with asthma between 2008 and 2019, the team found patients whose asthma is poorly controlled have eight times excess greenhouse gas emissions bit.ly/48KeMBy

Important to highlight that DPIs are not suitable for everyone

Great work @ProfHurst
I see it all too often these days, COPD patients being blanket switched to a DPI but the don't have enough inspiratory drive especially when exacerbating
If discharged on the same inhaler, it's just going to happen again
1 night admission = 10 MDI CO2
Agree. Misinformation that needs to be corrected.

@morninglive will @xandvt be on tomorrow to apologise for the numerous incorrect statements and false information he gave out today?
It's NOT the end of the inhaler
Old fashioned isn't unsafe
Steroids save lives when used correctly
No mention of BLUE inhaler in an emergency
Timely advice from @asthmalungni Essential to do this, a great time to check technique is correct and especially important in those higher risk teens/ adolescents 🙂

📣 Today we launch our End The #LungHealthLottery campaign and need your help to urge the government to take lung conditions seriously. People in some areas of the UK are more likely to be hospitalised or die from a lung condition simply because of where they live.

ALT There is a map of the UK with the areas which have high lung emergency hospital admissions and death rates. These include Knowsley, Inverclyde, Salford, North Ayrshire and Blackburn and Darwen. On the map are also the UK areas with low lung emergency hospital admissions and death rates. These include York, Bracknell Forest, Barnet, Kensington and Chelsea and West Sussex.
Deprivation, and access to care are two of the main reasons for high emergency admissions and mortality in asthma. The figures are shocking.
