I fixed a bunch of Linux distro bugs over the weekend that affected my laptop.
2-5 line fixes, could easily be PRs and fixing them for everyone. But the BS "No AI" or "If you used AI, here's a list of hoops to jump through" policies from some organisations and maintainers made me go meh!
I'm not putting wild additional administrative effort in to fix others' bugs. Instead they got GH issues (AI generated) now with what I think the solution should be. Good luck in the future.
Note to self: Move away from AI-unfriendly open source projects.
NVIDIA cards and their drivers on Linux always have been and still are a pain in the neck to deal with.
Honest question though: are some of these former state assets now making heaps of money because they're not government owned and government run anymore?
For what it's worth, for me this worked really well in Germany a couple of times. Rate drops from 120-140 Euro per night noticeably to below 100 - usually more boutique non-chain hotels, owner-operated though.
I saw the post that by contacting hotels directly you may get a better price. Mostly because of bookings commissions. The commission is around 20% afaik.
So I did a little experiment. I found four hotels with 120-126 euros price per night. I though the price may come down to like 100 euros.
Sent 4 emails stating their price on booking. It was a week ago.
2 haven't answered. Other 2 responses:
- One hotel offered me the room for 135 euro (instead of 124 euro on booking).
- Another hotel offered me 131 euro instead of 126 euros.
Maybe it should be cheaper but in my case it shown quite the opposite 🤷♂️
Maybe it works way better if you stay more than one night? idk.
"ACT leader David Seymour says he would work in a coalition with Opportunity if it kept the Greens and Te Pāti Māori out of power."
Sensible choice. Labour, ACT, Opportunity would be a decent outcome.
Auto coming soon to everyone on iOS/Android in @autohiveai mobile version 1.9.0...
This is a huge win on autohive.com!
Auto lets you work with a single orchestrator, making it your single place to chat. Auto has been a game changer for me in how I work with our systems.
It assembles skills, sub-agents, and connects your tools seamlessly.
In any MMP-like election it's hilarious to look at how "best friends for the last 3 yrs" turn into eating each other's faces when it gets close.
When you're switching from one energy company to another one in NZ, let it be gas or power, it's almost painful to see their IT systems not at all being up to scratch in regards to basic UX or even on a functionality level.
Some examples?
Old gas provider: You can submit meter readings, no way to see a list or history of past readings. They also have graphs for usage, but they are calendar month and not billing periods. That adds a lot of noise because gas is not read daily, so calendar months are... a guess, I guess?
New gas provider: totally broken customer area right after signing up. Got ChatGPT to analyse the .har file from Chrome - it's because when you sign up, you don't have a billing account associated and they simply log you out with an obscure message.
New power provider (a while ago): no online portal to check usage whatsoever [I don't care much about that because I have solar and an app for that]. No policy that clearly spits out what happens to solar export $s and how to get them paid out.
It's just ridiculous how bad that industry's user experience is, given the amount of money they charge.

Kylo, our cat (11), is friends with the neighbours' young cats. He just came home meowing and meowing and clearly wanted to tell us about whatever they've experienced together.
My wife to him: "It's good that you hang out with young people, otherwise you might turn into a grumpy old man like @AgentK and shout at the clouds."
Me: ...⁉️🤨
#omarchy folks - what's currently the best way to run Omarchy in a Parallels VM on Apple Silicon? Seems there's no ready-made iso for it.
This!

Voting age blocs are extremely important to politicians. A large aggregate of 40 to 50 year olds are being to asked readjust their future income expectations for those 60+ who happen to benefit the most from this. Where’s the trade here?
To be honest - Verity and Damien together are actually not a bad team. I guess Winston Peters being quite entertaining as a person helps, too.

I can't wait for Omarchy and AI engineering to finally push Asahi Linux more and more towards supporting modern M4/M5 hardware.
I really love the Macbook Air hardware of 2026, but macOS, I will never be a fan of.
I sympathize with programmers who worked on systems they never cared about, for customers they didn't connect with, and took all their working joy from the mechanical act of turning tickets into code. You have to care about the software to be excited about making it w/ agents!

OpenAI have proven that matrix multiplication can be done in O(n^2.25) operations, which is a massive improvement. It is especially concerning because these AIs themselves run on matrix algebra.
The previous record was O(n^2.37), which had barely moved from O(n^2.4) in 1990.
OpenAI blew it away.
But... it is a nonconstructive proof. No algorithm was found, only a proof that it must exist.
Has anyone done M.U.L.E. yet? Would save me the effort 😂
There's a reason I've been porting so many classic games I liked to web with WASM and why this is taking off now I think
Because it's way easier to just open a new tab, type the URL and start playing than...
Switching on a console or gaming PC, waiting for it to boot, installing the Xbox/PS/Windows/Steam updates, rebooting, finding the game in your library, then a game popup appears (new DLC!!!), click away popup, click [ PLAY ], game has to download the new 50GB updates for 30 minutes, wait, load game, takes ages, tap [ Online ], try find our friends in some convoluted way, [ Play ]
I think game and console developers do not realize people don't have time to do all this
Many of us are doing other stuff, then have a break, just want to jump into a game, play a bit with friends, and get out again! And decompiling games and porting them to WASM does exactly that!

An hour a day of maths was a key recommendation of the 2021 Royal Society Maths Report that was commissioned BY HIPKINS. He sat on that report for 2 years and did nothing. We implemented an hour a day in our first 100 days and used the rest of the recommendations as a blueprint for our 2024 Maths Action Plan. We now have 6% more students at curriculum expectations in maths at year 6. Hipkins sat and watched maths results tank while ignoring the answers right in front of him and he is still refusing to keep an hour a day in tonight’s debate. National listened to the experts and early results are improving for the first time in many years as a result. Our kids deserve a world-leading education and National are delivering it.

So many interesting questions addressed via agentic mathematics.
