I wrote a book about why the left should support Chinese socialism and why all peace-loving people should stand up against the US-led New Cold War. It's called 'The East is Still Red – Chinese socialism in the 21st century'.

The media tried to paint Lula as the Brazilian Biden. Nope. Biden is a senile war criminal directly responsible for most of the ethnic cleansing in Gaza—and a serial loser.
Lula is a working class hero and one of the most skilled politicians to have ever lived.

The outcome of today’s presidential elections will determine whether Trump and his allies achieve their biggest Latin American victory, or whether progressive forces can prevent the destruction of Brazilian sovereignty by re-electing Lula.

Bora Lula! For the working class of Brazil, for the Afro-Brazilian, for the indigenous, for the women, for the LGBTQ, for the Amazon, for sovereignty, for dignity, for democracy, for culture, for BRICS, for multipolarity, for Latin America, for the world.
In “the only democracy in the Middle East”, there’s a fine line between election campaigning and ethnic cleansing.
China, Cuba, Russia, Nicaragua and others stand with Iran in a strong statement responding to US threats to bomb Iran’s nuclear energy facilities.
“Iran and 11 other countries have warned that attacks against nuclear facilities under International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) safeguards must never be accepted as normal, stressing that such actions violate international law and threaten nuclear safety and global non-proliferation efforts.
“The statement was issued by Belarus, Burkina Faso, China, Cuba, Eritrea, Iran, Nicaragua, Niger, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan and Zimbabwe, addressing the prohibition of attacks and threats against nuclear sites dedicated to peaceful purposes.
“The countries reaffirmed the inalienable right of all states to develop research, production, and use of nuclear energy for peaceful purposes without discrimination.”

The Pentagon has finally won its war on tai chi and calligraphy classes!
Pete Hegseth announced on Friday that the Department of War has designated Confucius Institutes a national security threat, with a sinister mission “to steal intellectual property and to infiltrate the minds of American students”.
It is unclear how language lessons, calligraphy classes, tai chi sessions, Lunar New Year celebrations, and the occasional dumpling-making workshop threaten anyone’s national security.
Meanwhile, China isn’t unique in promoting its culture abroad. Britain has the British Council, France the Alliance Française, Spain the Instituto Cervantes. The US State Department runs hundreds of “American Spaces” around the world.
Apparently the US regime has reached the conclusion that any exposure to Chinese culture; any contact with Chinese people; any appreciation of Chinese civilisation; any notion of friendship and cooperation with China is a danger to white supremacy and the global imperialist order. Which, in a sense, it is. But that’s not the same as being a threat to national security.
Anyway, this ship has sailed. Sensible young people in the US despise their own regime and are increasingly appreciative of China’s role in promoting peace, its leadership in climate action, and its commitment to improving the lives of ordinary people. Crass McCarthyism will solve no problems and will only make the US government look more ridiculous in the eyes of its own citizens and the world.

Electric vehicles now constitute 67 percent of all new car sales in China, up from 6 percent in 2020.
The figure for the US is 6 percent, down from 12 percent last year.
China’s cracked the code. Innovation, economies of scale, consumer subsidies, integrated supply chains, massive charging infrastructure, environmental action tightly integrated into economic planning.

They played this game in the 1980s when there was huge opposition to Reagan deploying cruise missiles in Europe and they tried to scare people into thinking a Soviet invasion was imminent.

Today’s contribution to the Make the Proxy War on Russia Popular Again (MPWRPA) campaign: the British government wants every household to stock up on water, food, cash and a wind-up FM radio, ready to keep comms alive when Putin invades our green and pleasant land.
Wes Streeting explains that Britain must prepare for “state-sponsored terrorism” by Russia or other hostile powers targeting everyday infrastructure. He doesn’t like the expressions “hybrid warfare” or “grey zone threats”, because, well, they don’t frighten the public enough.
Where did Streeting deliver this message? At the opening of a factory in Telford, making barrels for tank guns.
The real emergencies the article mentions don’t actually have much to do with Moscow’s evil designs.
Storm Goretti left tens of thousands of homes in the Midlands, the south-west and Wales without power in January.
A “super El Niño” threatens to make 2027 the hottest year on record, disrupting food supplies and energy systems.
A security flaw in the PHP programming language took 32 government websites offline this week.
The Iberian blackout of April 2025, which hit 55 million people, was caused by voltage instability in the grid.
The real story is one of climate breakdown, crumbling infrastructure and creaking software. Telling people to keep a few days’ supplies in case of winter storms is sensible enough. Dressing it up as preparation for Russian “state terrorism” is ridiculous; it’s about building a war psychology so as to justify pouring resources into the war machine rather than flood defences, the grid and public services.
If the government were serious about resilience, it would be investing in public ownership of energy and water, a grid that can cope with renewables, flood defences and food security. Instead, it’s rearming, and asking people to buy wind-up radios.
And if it were serious about avoiding conflict with Russia, it could stop prolonging the war in Ukraine, stop sending long-range missiles, and support a negotiated settlement that addresses Russia’s security concerns. Britain is a threat to Russia far more than Russia is to Britain.

The far-right US puppet presidential candidate in Brazil, Flávio Bolsonaro, wants to do a backdoor privatization of the country's state-owned oil giant Petrobras, inviting in US Big Oil corporations.
His criminal father Jair Bolsonaro tried, but failed. Flávio wants to try again
If Flávio Bolsonaro wins Brazil’s presidential runoff he'll give its oil company broad freedom to reshape its portfolio while seeking to bring private investment into sectors dominated by the state-controlled oil producer, says an adviser bloomberg.com/news/articles/…
Fox News has uncovered a global conspiracy: 101 organisations in 13 countries involved in “organising, participating in, or amplifying” protests in Europe and India. At the centre of this web sits Neville Roy Singham, a US entrepreneur living in Shanghai who funds left-wing causes.
Who are these sinister organisations? According to Fox, they’re student associations, labour unions, socialist and communist groups, advocacy groups and media outlets. That labour unions and socialist parties would support radical protests is, of course, pretty shocking stuff.
The means of organisation, participation and amplification amount to… posting supportive messages on social media. That might sound fairly innocuous, but how else are we to explain the fact that young people in France, Italy, Spain, Albania, India and elsewhere are taking to the streets?
In France, young people are putatively protesting over education, public spending and the cost of living. In India, they claim to be opposing a revision of the electoral rolls that has removed around 130 million names. Across the Western world, a generation has spent three years watching its governments arm and defend a genocide in Gaza.
But it’s now clear that the real reason for these protests is the prolific social media activity of Roy Singham’s friends.
The whole thing calls to mind the mid-20th century in the US, when otherwise perfectly happy workers went on strike at the instigation of Soviet-paid agitators. Or when Black people in the South, treated very fairly under Jim Crow, came over all uppity upon contact with Chinese communist propaganda.
Being serious for a moment: what Fox News and others are complaining about is the anti-imperialist left having any voice at all. Liberal “freedom of speech” has always worked fine as long as the ruling class enjoyed an effective monopoly on propaganda and dissent was marginal. Now anti-war and anti-imperialist voices are growing louder and more effective, it seems that rules have changed.
We can see where that leads. In India, NewsClick founder Prabir Purkayastha was arrested in 2023 over alleged Singham-linked funding, an arrest the Supreme Court later declared invalid. In the US, Senator Grassley wants CodePink and the People’s Forum registered as foreign agents. In Britain, Palestine Action has been proscribed as a terrorist organisation, and more than 90 percent of last year’s 3,061 terrorism-related arrests were for supporting it. In the US, NSPM-7 lists “anti-capitalism” as an indicator of domestic terrorism.
Dimitrov defined fascism as “the open terrorist dictatorship of the most reactionary, most chauvinistic and most imperialist elements of finance capital”. This line of reporting and policy points in that direction. When liberal democracy can no longer win the argument, both liberalism and democracy are abandoned.
