Eno Gajda, a 58-year-old Albanian fisherman with no fixed address, has pleaded guilty to facilitating illegal immigration after attempting to smuggle 17 Albanian nationals into the UK aboard a 40-foot yacht. Gajda sailed the vessel, named Cap West, from Dielette in France towards Portland Harbour in Dorset on 27 August 2026. Border Security Command officers intercepted the yacht off Dorset and escorted it to Portland Marina, where the 16 men and one boy were dealt with by immigration authorities. Gajda appeared at Bournemouth Crown Court on 26 October, where he admitted assisting unlawful immigration to the UK. During proceedings, Gajda said he had been promised £10,000 to transport the passengers to Portland, although he did not believe he would ever receive the money. In his basis of plea, Gajda claimed he had been coerced by threats against his family in Albania, although he was not acting under duress. Prosecutor Stuart Ellacott said the Crown Prosecution Service accepted his basis of plea. Judge Evans KC adjourned sentencing until 18 November 2026, saying Gajda would receive credit for his guilty plea. He was remanded in custody until the hearing. Indian national Harmanjit Singh, 29, has been jailed for 22 months after pleading guilty to eight sexual assaults and three indecent exposure offences targeting women across Leicester. On October 2, he groped a woman trying to unlock her workplace door at 7am. On November 24, he assaulted several women within minutes, including a woman returning to her car on Walnut Street after working at Leicester Royal Infirmary, another in Greyfriars and a 17-year-old girl he followed along Western Boulevard before blocking her path and groping her. That evening, he also grabbed the bottom of a student walking towards De Montfort University’s library and groped another woman in a nearby park. Further offences included groping a student on campus, exposing himself to a woman near the River Soar, groping a woman on the Saffron Lane Estate and exposing himself to a young mother at Aylestone Recreation Ground. On December 5, he again exposed himself and pleasured himself in front of another woman on campus. After his arrest by Leicestershire Police, Singh denied the allegations and maintained his not-guilty pleas for nearly three years. Potential trial dates in 2024 and 2025 could not proceed because of a lack of court time. He finally pleaded guilty in September 2026. At Leicester Crown Court on October 26, prosecutor Sarah Phelan read victim impact statements detailing the lasting trauma. One woman with complex PTSD linked to experiences in her war-torn home country said she cried daily and repeatedly relived the assault. Others reported nightmares, panic attacks, anxiety and needing counselling, while one student described a mental breakdown and becoming paranoid towards men. Several victims became afraid to go out alone. One student stayed home for two months, others missed classes and one feared expulsion. Women relied on taxis because they felt unsafe walking, causing financial strain, while another victim avoided Leicester city centre and worried about the safety of friends and their children. Defence barrister Gurjit Gill asked Recorder Francesca Levett to impose a suspended sentence, explaining that Singh had moved to the UK with his wife for work opportunities and that his father had borrowed £10,000 to fund the move. The court heard that Singh had been unable to renew his work visa following his arrest and had relied on his wife’s income since December 2024. His defence also presented a letter of apology. At Leicester Crown Court on October 26, 2026, the judge said Singh’s remorse was limited by his late guilty plea and described his apology as choreographed and contrived. She said he had used his bicycle to approach women quickly, assault them and escape, despite having a loving, supportive wife. She added that Singh felt entitled to mistreat women for his own sexual gratification before sentencing him to 22 months. He was also placed on the sex offenders register for 10 years. Despite Singh being an Indian national jailed for eight sexual assaults and three indecent exposure offences, there was no mention in court or in police statements of any deportation proceedings or recommendation that he be removed from the UK once his sentence is complete. #UKNews #CrimeNews #Leicester

🚨 HAVE YOU SEEN ORANGE WIG MAN? Police in London are searching for Abreham Woldegiworgis, 35, an Ethiopian national, in connection with the fatal shooting of another man in Enfield just one week ago. Detectives believe Woldegiworgis was captured on CCTV wearing a bright orange wig and grey beanie. Police say he has links to Enfield, Haringey and Brixton and may have significantly changed his appearance since the crime. The public have been warned not to approach Woldegiworgis. The victim was shot dead at around 9.30pm on 19 October 2026 in what detectives believe was a targeted attack. A separate 23-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder and remains in custody.

Salam, 38, was jailed for 18 months in September for crimes committed while he was already on a 12-month suspended sentence for other offences. While in prison, he's now been sentenced for two earlier shoplifting offences in Newport. Salam appeared at Newport Magistrates’ Court on 23 October after pleading guilty to stealing boxes of fragrances from a Commercial Street shop on 28 May and a LEGO Batman boxset from a store on Mendalgief Retail Park on 2 June. He was ordered to pay £125.99 compensation but no further custodial sentences were received. He had previously been jailed for 18 months on 4 September after committing two commercial burglaries in Newport on 29 August, stealing £59.97 worth of products from Superdrug on 10 August, and fraudulently using a stolen bank card to make transactions totalling £60.78. The October court proceedings concerned thefts committed before his September imprisonment, rather than new offences.
