Promemoria: Andrea Kimi Antonelli non รจ italiano, รจ granlombardo. Padre cispadano, madre veneta.

Power is Power The chart below shows electricity prices in Europe just now, priced per MWh. Just horrific and economically ruinous for any modern economy. The world spends about $4.2 trillion on electricity and this is split between: โ€ข Generation (2/3 โ€ข Transmission & Distribution (1/3) The world spends around $1.5 trillion on capex and $2.7 trillion on opex. The $1.5 trillion capex gets you 1-2% capacity growth each year. So a rough rule of thumb is that every 1% of GDP you spend on power infrastructure gets you 1-2% more electricity. If you wanted to grow your power supply by eg 8%, you might expect that to cost 6% of GDP. Nobody has the supply chain to do that, if you want to grow this particular supply chain it will cost you more GDP points on second order things. Nowโ€ฆ Demand for power around the world is booming, because of 3 big technology trends. 1. Air Conditioning (yes still) +20% consumption 2. Electric Vehicles +80% consumption 3. AI Data Centers +XYZ% consumption Different regions have different progress on these three trends. US has a lot of AC, little EV and a lot of DC, Europe has little AC, lots of EV little DC. China has a lot of AC and EV. Now generation splits into fixed costs for the generator plant (site and technology specific) and variable costs for fuel. Dispatchable Power Cost, by Fuel Type 1. $6 / MWh - Uranium 2. $19 / MWh - Nat Gas ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ 3. $22 / MWh - Coal ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ 4. $40 / MWh - Coal ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ณ 5. $90 / MWh - LNG 6. $130 / MWh - Biomass 7. $160 / MWh - Nat Gas ๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡บ ๐Ÿ‡ฏ๐Ÿ‡ต 8. $200 / MWh - Oil Fracking has given the US a structural energy cost advantage. If you talk to people in China about what is the most impressive thing the US has done they say โ€œfrackingโ€. The challenge with US Nat Gas is that itโ€™s now fully developed and expansion is sort of tapped out. What the 21st Century demands is a lot of power, you either have it or you donโ€™t. When you look at planetary scale energy and compute trends you see myriad gigantic arbitrage opportunities. Interesting times!

Before the Name Alison Stewart was still in her early teens when she met Paul Hewson at Mount Temple Comprehensive School in Dublin. He was not yet Bono. He was a restless classmate with a sharp tongue and a head full of music. In September 1974 his mother, Iris, collapsed at her own fatherโ€™s funeral from a brain aneurysm and died days later. Paul was 14. In the house he shared with his father and older brother, her name was almost never spoken again. Ali noticed the silence and the anger that followed. She walked to school with him, helped with ordinary thingsโ€”clothes, meals, the small routines that had been disruptedโ€”and treated him as someone who needed steadiness rather than a future audience. In 1976 they began dating. That same year Paul and his friends formed the band that would become U2. She went to their early gigs in the school gym and stayed close while the project grew beyond anyoneโ€™s expectations. They married on 21 August 1982 at All Saints Church in Raheny. U2โ€™s rise soon followed: stadiums, constant travel, the kind of attention that has ended many relationships. They stayed in Ireland, raised four childrenโ€”Jordan, Eve, Elijah, and Johnโ€”and kept a private life around Dublin even as Bonoโ€™s public one expanded. Ali finished a degree in politics and sociology at University College Dublin in 1989 and built her own work in humanitarian causes, including support for children affected by the Chernobyl disaster. In 2005 she co-founded Edun, a fashion company aimed at creating jobs and trade in Africa. Bono has described their marriage as one in which neither person was simply an accessory to the other. The song โ€œSweetest Thingโ€ began as an apology after he missed her birthday while in the studio; it later became one of the bandโ€™s most familiar tracks. When asked what has kept them together, Ali has said they like each other and they talk. In 2026 they mark roughly fifty years since their teenage relationship began and more than four decades of marriage. The boy who lost his mother at 14 grew into a voice heard by millions. The girl who offered him ordinary care in that first difficult year became the person who has remained beside him through everything that followed.
