You can now pre-order the I Thought About That A Lot book! ithoughtaboutthatalot.com/sh…
It includes 23 essays that we’ve published on ithoughtaboutthatalot.com between 2020 and 2023. As well as 3 that will be part of this year's advent calendar.

This is what the Internet was like in the early 2000s if you had a really fast connection. A lot was rendered server-side and sent to you in pure HTML. No frameworks, no async calls, no trillions of minified Angular/React dependencies
Nice workshop from @DaveConnis today, showing practical ways to use systems thinking in design work. Encourage everyone to check it out on @TheUXCC
I have some hearing loss and wear hearing aids. I can't really follow a TV show without captions. On the one hand they're more widely available than ever and that is welcome. On the other hand quality varies wildly.
Often they don't sync properly. Or they only caption the non English speech. The one I find most annoying is where they've done half a job and parts of the dialogue will be missing from the caption. This is unfortunately very common.
Rest in peace, James Earl Jones.
I'll always remember his rendition of Edgar Allan Poe's The Raven on The Simpsons.
I tried to learn it off by heart after this (I was, and remain, fun at parties).

Predictable systematic touting and price gouging going on and that's just from Ticketmaster itself. Glad not to be an Oasis fan this morning.
There's a shortage of blood. My wife tried to go and donate. Getting an appointment at an appropriate time was very difficult. She took our daughter with her. Told on arrival that you can't have a child with you if you're by yourself.
Now, maybe we should have thought of it. What if my wife fainted? She has never fainted when giving blood before but you never know.
I see @primevideouk @PrimeVideo still can't be bothered to put captions on all of their shows.
Sell item. Post item to provided address by Royal Mail signed for. Get notification that recipient is not at the address and item is at the National Returns Centre. No idea whether I have to arrange for it to be sent back to me or if they got a collection card or what.
Burger place. Order screens directly as you enter, causing congestion at the door. Order buzzers that give no indication that they're actually working. 30 minutes of uncertainty waiting for "fast" food.
Fantastic talk from @storyneedle showing the great capabilities of @jsonschema for content models.
