Marmalade and gherkins. Let's say that again, just so it sinks in: marmalade. And gherkins.
UK Chancellor pledges cheaper marmalade and gherkins in pre-Budget package of 'everyday fixes'. Fiddling at the edges. Need redistribution of income and wealth. End profiteering in housing, energy, water, essentials. Increase tax personal allowance. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c6d9…

Labour now briefing young people won't get the same minimum wage uplift. Even Starmer didn't break this pledge. Workers rights mean same rights, pay & conditions, same rate for the same job. What does this Labour government have against young people? inews.co.uk/news/politics/mi…

Stock up on essential supplies we are told. At least three days worth of water and tinned food. "At least three days"? What about prescriptions? Why is the government not telling doctors to issue prescriptions for 56 days worth of drugs to be topped up every 28 days?

Literally cannot get a GP appointment. There's no way to do it. The only options on the app is for smears or B12 injections. If you call them, they tell you there are no appointments available, try again tomorrow between 8 & 8.30am. I call but end up in a queue, eventually to be told all appointments are gone that day. On the web portal, if it's not a very specific listed medical problem, it just tells you that you don't need an appointment but you can email them and they'll get back to you at some point. Having gone through cancer treatment which has left me with brittle bones and countless other problems, I feel like they give zero fucks. I even got an appointment made for me the other day for a mammogram. I've had both breasts removed. They didn't have it on record. It didn't used to be like this. I've had my ovaries removed and all estrogen stripped from my body for the past 8 years. This leaves me at risk from all sorts of health problems, but I can't even get my GP to schedule an annual bloodtest to make sure everything's OK. It's got to the point where I just cannot be bothered, and if my cancer comes back or the treatment side effects eventually kill me, that's just how it is. ENVY OF THE WORLD THOUGH.

This is Labour Politician Lord Tom Watson being paid to be a salesman for Palantir, a highly controversial tech company that has Government contracts. This is a sign of a democracy in decline.
Nobody wants to buy a service they can’t walk away from. Palantir’s critics have long claimed we ‘lock in’ our customers. We don’t. This short film explains why. It’s the first in a series on the gap between the rhetoric about Palantir and the work we actually do.

We need to stop educating children simply to understand the world as it is, and start empowering them to imagine the world as it could be. To question. To challenge. To think. To create. The future isn't something we should teach children to accept. It's something we should give them the power to shape. @NEUnion @educationgovuk

The Pentagon is preparing US bases to survive months without outside support in the event of a major war as the UK tells its citizens to stock up on nonperishables and bottled water while prepping for major war within 1,000 days. Lots going on right now but this seems noteworthy.

Not a single new water reservoir has been built since Water Privatisation in 1989, despite UK population growing from 57 million to 69.5 million. Failed state. Westminster betrays its citizens to enrich unaccountable offshore private equity.
Exclusive from @breeallegretti Ministers have been secretly warned that some English reservoirs are at risk of running dry, hitting water supplies to homes in the run-up to Christmas The government’s emergency committee, known as Cobra, is meeting up to twice a week to discuss the situation in the southwest of England and Sussex A secret “reasonable worst-case scenario” was drawn up, anticipating that several reservoirs’ water stocks could fall to 0 per cent — dubbed “day zero” — within weeks Officials warned that without action, supplies to some homes could be affected, along with disruption to the construction of a nuclear power station and operations at a prison Wimbleball reservoir, which supplies more than 400,000 people in Somerset, has 13 per cent of its capacity, while Ardingly, which serves 280,000 customers across West Sussex, is at 17 per cent Ministers battling to avoid reservoirs running dry by Christmas thetimes.com/article/7812e10…

Day after day since the approval of #Jackdaw, I've heard endless excuses from those who claim to be committed to climate action. The most common? "We need to be realistic. Renewable energy hasn't expanded fast enough to meet growing demand, so we have no choice but to continue expanding oil and gas." And you can be pretty sure the same argument will be rolled out for #Rosebank. But that's the absurdity of the entire argument. The speed of the renewable energy transition is a political choice. How quickly we invest, build infrastructure, reform energy markets and accelerate the transition is determined by the very politicians telling us we have no alternative. We're being told to accept the consequences of political decisions as though they're unavoidable laws of nature. And that's what makes this so infuriating. THIS IS A SELF-IMPOSED CRISIS. AND WE'RE STILL IMPOSING IT ON OURSELVES. Where's the urgency? Where's the ambition? Where's the political will to actually change the circumstances we're being told we must accept? Instead, the failure to accelerate the transition becomes the justification for prolonging our dependence on fossil fuels. But there's something far more devious going on here. This isn't pragmatism. It's political theatre. It's gaslighting the public into believing these decisions are unavoidable, while conveniently ensuring the biggest winner is #BigOil. We're bending over backwards to keep private profits flowing, while society, the wider economy and the planet are left paying the price. #ClimateCrisis #ClimateVandalism @ZackPolanski

I bet you have seen those videos showing how UK supermarkets are dumping huge amounts of in date food because they don't want to give it away. Meanwhile the UK govt is telling you to stockpile food for war. They think you are stupid.

This might be our last picture…💔🇵🇸 If we die, remember that we were not just numbers mentioned in the news. We were souls with dreams, hearts with hopes, and stories that were left unfinished. Don’t forget us in your prayers, and keep speaking about us, because behind every name there is a whole life that dreamed of living in peace.
Khan Younis is trembling in terror at this very moment! 💔😭 Heavy gunfire that won’t stop, drones filling the skies, and artillery shelling erupting again and again! We are living through terrifying moments, not knowing what the next minute will bring or whether we will survive this night. 💔 Please, I beg you, keep Khan Younis and its people in your prayers. We are living in constant fear, and all we wish for is to make it through this night alive and safe. Please don’t forget us… Don’t forget Khan Younis. 😭💔🙏

We talk about trees absorbing CO2. We don't talk enough about trees REFLECTING the sun. It's called the ALBEDO effect. Forests bounce solar energy back to space, stopping Earth from overheating. Cut a tree, and you darken the Earth. Literally.
