My darling girls at the start of their life's journey, just 7 weeks old here. Lolly on the left lived till only 8 (31st March 2015 - 22nd Sept 2023) and Esme to only 11 (31st March 2015 - 5th June 2026) Both gone far to young especially for JRTs but universe had other plans. Loved forever
Mum got out a snuffle mat that Esme broke up two Schmackos - my fav treats from my old life and even though I vacuumed them up quickly I kept checking it over for about 7 mins just incase any more appeared but then I started to chew it so she has taken it away and said in future it will only be down long enough for me to eat the treats and no more. She is a spoil sport - have lots of things I can chew but don’t want them. Love Rolo 🦮💗
Mum says she is sorry, her post doesn't really make sense. The gum around her tooth is really throbbing today. The snufflemat belonged to Esme and she never damaged it in any way but as it has a plastic base, I had to chew that. There are others with no plastic, so Mum is going to find them for me. This is how I have been since we came home just after 5 pm. I had a drink and took myself to my bed in Mum's room. I spent the whole time at the dog park sniffing and leaving lots of peemails, it's tiring. Mum says give it a few weeks of going so often and I will be begging to stay longer, today again I asked to go home 5 mins early, I was tired. Love Rolo🐕🦺💕

The real horror of Halloween.
Artificial cobweb: a bit of fake fun for you, but a very real and terrifying death for them.

The fine, strong synthetic fibres of this lethal 'web' are difficult for animals to see at dusk and can quickly wrap around their legs, wings, and neck, trapping and killing birds, insects and mammals.
When Eden the hedgehog struggled to free herself the web tightened, cutting off circulation and causing deep wounds.
Can you imagine the pain and sheer terror?
And then seeing dawn approach, while hanging there, tightly bound and helpless, only an inch above the ground but suffering slow strangulation.
Aside from being stressed, dehydrated, starving and exhausted, she also had horrific bite/peck wounds to her face, where she had been held there, helpless, unable to curl and defend herself, while a predator tried to eat her alive.
Tragically her constriction injuries were too severe to survive, and poor Eden had to be put to sleep.
If you have used this deadly cruel trap to 'decorate' your garden, I beg you - take it down now.
Please spread this vital information, and help save lives.

So very true. The grief I have had for Esme is no different in any way from what I felt when I lost my youngest daughter. Since Rolo came into my life, I still miss Esme so much, but life has colour again and joy, they had vanished the day she died. Rolo will never replace her, but I have enough room in my heart for many dogs.

Hi friends, I am gathering up my strength. This morning Mum had to have an emergency dental appointment, she is now on strong antibiotics for a dental abscess. First time she has left me, not that I was alone, but I missed her and was so happy when she came back. We went for a short walk, then she checked the Private Dog Park and they had one hour left unbooked, so Mum will be taking me again later to the same field we went to on Tuesday. Mum says she can be at home in pain, or out with me in the fresh air and sun in pain. Eating is not so bad for her, but drinking even through a straw is sending pain that leaves her breathless, but the dentist cannot do anything else, as any treatment needs a doctor as well as a dentist around because of her heart and the blood thinner and that will take some organising. So for now, as you can see, the harness is still on, ready for when we go out later and I am gathering my strength for an hour-long sniffing marathon. Love Rolo🐕🦺💕
Hi Friends, I am getting ready for Halloween, Mum says, so she has bought me some spooky bandanas to wear now and my costume will be worn on Halloween itself. Don't you think I looking dashing in this orange one? Hi Friends, Mum also found a really neat #dachshund pretend cardigan, really a jumper for me. It fits all the way down my long back, so it will keep me snug on cold days ( I don't like the cold). Mum doesn't know if I ever wore clothes before, none came with me, but I have accepted them well. I feel very snazzy in it. Love Rolo 🐕🦺💕
Hi Friends, Mum found some #Dachshund PJs that really fit me. They are very comfortable, don't bother me at all. Mum says I won't just wear them for bed, but also on slightly chilly days when we go out. Love Rolo🐕🦺💕

Hi Friends, well, after 4 horrible days of rain and strong winds, the sun finally came back and Mum was able to book an hour at the dog park. We went to another field today, the 3rd one and still one more to visit ( that one was Esme's favourite, where her memorial is). I plodded round ( Mum says I plod, whereas Esme appeared to walk on her toes), but my walk is that of a hunter for stalking its prey slowly, unlike a Jack, which runs after it. Mum is slowly learning the ways of a hound, so different from terriers. When we came home, I crashed, all that intense sniffing exhausts a guy. Love Rolo🐕🦺💕

It may be a bit of fake fun for you, but it's a very real and terrifying death for them.
And it's not only birds.
Last year I had my first call of the season of a hedgehog trapped in this horrific fake 'cobweb', made especially for gullible halloweeners to spread over their greenery, trapping all unsuspecting birds, insects and mammals, including hedgehogs.
The fine synthetic fibers are difficult for animals to see and can quickly wrap around their legs, spines, and neck, leading to severe injuries.
When a hedgehog struggles to free herself the web tightens, cutting off circulation and causing deep wounds.
These constriction injuries often lead to permanent damage or death.
Unfortunately the call was from Manchester, so all I could do was talk them through getting the poor creature to a rescue.
Clearly she had been trapped there for at least one night, and her struggles had pulled the strong nylon strands so tightly that one of her toes had been amputated.
Can you imagine the pain and the sheer terror?
And then seeing dawn approach, while hanging there, tightly bound and helpless.
Aside from being stressed, dehydrated, starving and exhausted to the point of near death, she also had horrific bite/peck wounds to her face, where she had been held there, helpless, unable to curl and defend herself, while a predator tried to eat her alive.
If you have used this deadly cruel trap to 'decorate' your garden, please take it down now.
Please don't be conned by the greedy makers and sellers of this rubbish into hurting defenceless animals.
